More and more clues suggest Professor E. Gadd, a character from the Luigi’s Mansion games, will appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. With Luiz Guzman and Issa Rae recently joining the cast as Wart and Honey Queen, the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is shaping up to have a large cast, but it seems there are still some surprises in store.

Even though we’ve seen a lot already, there’s still potential for unexpected announcements. While it’s probably too late for characters like Wario or the Koopalings to appear, other, less well-known characters from the Super Mario series might still be included.

Rumors suggest some lesser-known characters might appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. These include Tatanga from Super Mario Land, Fryguy and Tryclyde from Super Mario Bros. 2, Guppy from Super Mario Galaxy, and Professor E. Gadd, who many believe has the highest chance of being included.

The latest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie shows Rosalina standing in front of a lab that looks a lot like Professor E. Gadd’s. The lab’s design – specifically the green computer screens and red chair – is very similar to his.

Professor E. Gadd is best known as the inventor who equips Luigi for his adventures in the Luigi’s Mansion games. He’s also famous for creating F.L.U.D.D., the device Mario uses to clear up the mess in Super Mario Sunshine.

It might just be a coincidence that E. Gadd’s lab looks similar to the one shown in the movie trailer, but there’s other evidence suggesting he’ll appear. Bowser Jr.’s weapon in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is definitely the Magic Paintbrush, which was invented by E. Gadd. We already know from Super Mario Sunshine that Bowser Jr. got the paintbrush from the scientist, though that happened offscreen.

Given the paintbrush’s importance to the movie’s story, it’s likely the film will explain how Bowser Jr. obtained it. The movies have consistently stayed true to the source games and characters, so it’s reasonable to expect they’ll include the full story of the Magic Paintbrush, including E. Gadd’s involvement, rather than leaving that part out.

Considering both the lab and the paintbrush, we can start to understand how Professor E. Gadd might be involved. Perhaps Bowser Jr. stole the paintbrush, then captured E. Gadd and forced him to work in the lab.

As a big fan of the Super Mario Galaxy games, I’ve been thinking about the movie, and it’s interesting to me that it seems to have combined Professor E. Gadd’s lab with Rosalina’s Comet Observatory. It almost feels like E. Gadd is doing all his science inside the Observatory now, which is a really cool idea!

If The Super Mario Galaxy Movie included elements like this, it would allow for more scenes and storylines faithful to the games. Once he’s involved in the story, Luigi could potentially get the Poltergeist 3000, setting up a future Luigi’s Mansion movie. The film could hint at this with a scene after the credits, after Mario recovers the Magic Paintbrush.

Professor E. Gadd might play a significant role in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie. One possibility is that he’ll provide Mario with F.L.U.D.D., the device used to clean up the goo created by the Magic Paintbrush. This could equip Mario to battle Bowser Jr. during the movie’s final showdown.
