Phil Dunster, known for his role in Ted Lasso, has addressed rumors about whether he’ll be back for the show’s fourth season. Fans questioned his return when the official cast list released in July didn’t include his name. However, he was seen on the Ted Lasso set in Richmond in September 2025, leading many to believe he will be involved in the new season.
The actor who plays Jamie Tartt hinted at a possible return, telling The Telegraph to ‘never say never’ and adding that he’s ‘fingers crossed’ about the future.
Man, I really thought Jamie’s story was done after Season 3. It felt like a perfect ending for him! Remember how cocky he used to be? It was awesome seeing him grow into a real team leader, and finally make things right with his dad. It was a satisfying arc, honestly.

However, that doesn’t mean Dunster is ready to walk away from the role.
The actor recently appeared on the Always Be Comedy podcast to clarify concerns about leaving the show. He explained that rumors suggesting he’d booked another job and that was why he wasn’t continuing weren’t true. He stated it wasn’t the reason at all.

I was always ready to do whatever Jason Sudeikis asked of me – I’d immediately agree to anything. But honestly, I’m not sure what happened after that. It’s hard to say.
He admitted he wasn’t sure where the show was headed, but assured viewers that many beloved characters would still be featured. He jokingly added, ‘Things are changing,’ using a popular phrase among younger people.

Following his recent statements, it’s been announced that season four will center around the women’s football team. The story will follow Ted (Sudeikis) as he returns to Richmond to coach a women’s team playing in the second division – his most demanding assignment yet.
Over the season, Ted and his team start taking risks and acting impulsively, doing things they previously wouldn’t have considered.
The fourth season of Ted Lasso is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV in the summer of 2026. You can currently stream the first three seasons on the platform.
I’m so excited! The latest issue of Living Legends, a gorgeous, full-color magazine dedicated to Harry Styles, just came out! It’s 100 pages long and you can grab a copy at newsstands or order it online. Definitely checking this out!
