‘Hokum’ Trailer Reveals New Adam Scott Horror From ‘Oddity’ Director

Adam Scott, known for his comedic roles in shows like Parks & Recreation, is stepping into the horror genre with his new movie, Hokum. He’s recently gained attention for the sci-fi series Severance, and this latest project shows him embracing a darker, more frightening style, reminiscent of Stephen King’s work.

Hokum tells the story of a horror writer named Ohm Bauman (played by Scott) who travels to a hotel his parents always dreamed of visiting. They never had the chance to go, and Ohm wants to scatter their ashes there as a way to honor them. Little does he know, the hotel might be haunted. NEON, the studio releasing the film, shared a brief summary of the upcoming horror movie on YouTube along with the trailer.

Novelist Ohm Bauman travels to a secluded inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, but becomes captivated by local stories of a witch said to haunt one of the rooms. Strange visions and a mysterious disappearance soon lead him to face painful memories from his past.

Similar to Stephen King’s experiences in stories like The Shining, the main character in Hokum, a horror writer named Scott, finds himself facing the terrifying events he creates in his books. The film is written and directed by Damian Mc Carthy, who gained recognition for his visually striking and suspenseful 2024 film, Oddity. Hokum is scheduled for release in theaters on May 1, 2026.

This is a developing story with more details to follow.
