Now that Zootropolis 2 is available on Disney+, excitement is building for a possible third movie in the popular Zootropolis series. The new sequel, released almost ten years after the original 2016 film, continues the story of rabbit Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and fox Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) as partners at the Zootopia Police Department, or ZPD.
Despite having very different personalities that sometimes hinder their work, the detectives understand they must overcome their disagreements to catch the criminal, Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan), and prove their innocence after being falsely accused.
The latest movie in the popular animal adventure series has broken records, becoming the highest-grossing animated film ever. It earned an incredible $1.86 billion despite costing only $150 million to make.

Given these strong results, another movie seems very likely. However, Disney hasn’t officially said if they’ll make a sequel with Nick and Judy.
Jared Bush, who co-directed and wrote the film, has suggested that Nick and Judy from Zootopia might return in another movie. He mentioned that the post-credit scene in Zootopia 2 actually sets up a potential new story.

Bush hinted at potential future projects in a post-credits scene, telling CBR that he’s currently focused on celebrating the success of this film rather than planning a sequel.
Everyone naturally focuses on Judy and Nick, and we’re curious about what their future holds. There’s been a lot of online discussion about where their story could go. While we can’t promise to include everything fans suggest, it’s great to see so much excitement and engagement.

Fans have been speculating about a third Zootopia movie focusing on a stronger romance between Judy and Nick, and co-director Byron Howard has responded positively. In an interview with The Playlist, he said he enjoys the theories, praising the characters’ chemistry.
Howard addressed the question of whether Disney is pushing for a third movie, saying any pressure they feel is actually positive, stemming from excitement. He emphasized that they won’t rush into making another film unless they can ensure it’s as good as, or even better than, the previous one.
He added that he and Jared genuinely love working on this project and would happily continue doing it for the rest of their careers if possible, because they find it so enjoyable.
You can now watch both Zootopia movies and the Zootopia+ short-form series on Disney+.
