Nicole Kidman recently did a daring photoshoot for Variety magazine, featuring suggestive images like posing in black lace lingerie, appearing nude beneath a towel, and wearing heels while in a bathtub.
The Australian actress also spoke about her unexpected divorce from country singer Keith Urban, whom she was married to from 2006 to 2025.
The Oscar-winning actress told writer Matt Donnelly that she’s most thankful for her family’s well-being and their future together, and she prefers to keep everything else private out of respect.
I’m focused on keeping our family strong and united, and that will always be our priority. It’s amazing how quickly my daughters are growing up and becoming young women.
Oh my gosh, Nicole and Keith are just the sweetest! They have two gorgeous daughters, Sunday Rose who’s 17, and Faith Margaret, who’s 15. Nicole was talking about them recently, and she said they’re totally different personalities, but they have this incredible bond – she said they’re so deeply connected and close, and honestly, it just melts my heart! I’m obsessed with their family!
And the thespian revealed what her current state of mind is.
When someone asked how she was coping with the breakup, the woman with red hair replied that she was doing well and focusing on positive things in her life.
She explained that during her divorce last year, she was very withdrawn, saying, ‘I had a lot on my mind and was focused on getting through it.’
After her divorce, she traveled with her family.
Nicole Kidman recently returned from a trip to Antarctica and is continuing her adventures with stops in the Galápagos Islands and a hike to Machu Picchu. She brought along her sister, nieces, nephews, and a large group of friends on a cruise, where they met many wonderful new people.
We spotted penguins and sea lions. I’ve dedicated myself to understanding people and experiencing the world since I was fourteen, and it’s been a wonderful journey.
I traveled to the Algerian border with Werner Herzog, and we explored the area by camel. My children have had the incredible experience of living in Morocco and gaining a broader understanding of the world – experiencing diverse cultures through new tastes, smells, languages, and perspectives. As a family, we’ve all had the opportunity to visit all seven continents.
This year she has a lot to look forward to: ‘Now I’m in a place of saying, “2026. Here we go.”’
She has a number of projects to promote this year as the star is busier than ever post split.
This month, she’s leading the new Prime Video series Scarpetta, where she portrays the medical examiner character created by Patricia Cornwell.
In the fall she can be seen Practical Magic 2, with Sandra Bullock.
She’s currently filming season three of Lioness, a new series from the creator of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan. She’s working alongside Zoe Saldana and Morgan Freeman.
Kidman said she did a second Practical Magic to work with Bullock.
I adore Sandy. We have a really special connection, even though we’re very different people. I’m more spontaneous and energetic, while she’s calm and collected. We’re incredibly close, like sisters, and I feel very protective and loving towards her. We also just really click!
We work in very different ways – she prefers to be directly involved in everything, while I’m more comfortable assigning tasks to others. Luckily, our strengths balance each other out. It’s wonderful that we’ve remained close over the years. The new cast, including Joey King, is fantastic, and we’re excited to have Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest returning.
She enjoyed working on the Scarpetta adaptation, noting it was a new experience introducing the story to a true crime audience. She’s still learning the nuances of the genre, as she’s never been involved in a crime show before, and she’s aware of the books’ dedicated fanbase.
I really enjoyed the autopsy scenes – they were so realistic that I feel like I could almost perform one myself. Having some medical knowledge and a lifelong interest in medical dramas probably helped, and I’m definitely not squeamish around blood.
Oh my gosh, she actually talked about her mom! It was so touching. This writer mentioned he’d recently lost his mom, and she just… opened up about her own loss. It was a really raw and beautiful moment, honestly. I was completely floored that she’d share something so personal.
‘There’s still pain. We’re motherless now,’ said the ex-wife of Tom Cruise.
Nicole Kidman’s mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, died in September 2024 at age 84. The sad news came while Kidman was at the Venice Film Festival receiving an award for her work in the movie Babygirl. She was unable to attend the ceremony as she chose to be with her family.
The star revealed she hopes to live her life to the fullest for her mom.
My mom grew up in a time when it just wasn’t common for women to really pursue their own careers or education, especially if they didn’t have a lot of money. She was incredibly smart, but her family couldn’t afford to give her the opportunities she deserved. It’s always been a huge inspiration to me, and honestly, I feel like I’m living out some of her dreams for her now. I want to make her proud and show her that everything she hoped for wasn’t in vain.
When asked about experiencing reminders of her mother in everyday life, Nicole Kidman shared that she often sees ladybugs, which were special to her mom. She also mentioned that she enjoys ladybugs herself.
I was talking to my daughter recently when we spotted a ladybug. I jokingly told her, “Grandma’s here!” She gave me a puzzled look and corrected me, saying, “Mom, that’s a ladybug.” I insisted, “No, it is your grandmother!”
‘Whether it’s true or not, it’s soothing. I’ll accept that.’
