The new live-action version of the incredibly popular anime series has become the most-watched show on Netflix.
Netflix’s live-action series One Piece has quickly become the most popular show globally, just a day after its new episodes were released. The series, based on Eiichiro Oda’s famous manga, follows Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they begin their journey through the dangerous Grand Line in search of the legendary treasure, the One Piece. The new season, One Piece season 2, largely adapts the story from the Alabasta Saga.
Following the release of its second season, One Piece is now the most popular show on Netflix worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. As of March 11, 2026, the series has reached the number one spot in an impressive 43 countries, including major markets like Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, and Mexico.
Currently, the show is the second most popular in the United States and fifth in Japan. Reviews for One Piece season 2 are fantastic, earning a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 19 reviews. The show’s success is likely due to both positive reviews and the already widespread popularity of the original One Piece story.
Season 2 of One Piece follows the Straw Hat Pirates as they begin their journey across the dangerous Grand Line. They quickly clash with Baroque Works, a shadowy group determined to take over the world. This season covers five story arcs from the original manga, finishing with the introduction of a new crew member, Tony Tony Chopper, during the Drum Island Arc.
The show has become Netflix’s most popular live-action anime adaptation ever. Thanks to its success, a third season of One Piece has already been confirmed, and it will cover the exciting Alabasta Arc storyline. Filming for Season 3 began in November 2025, but a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Renewing the show early proved to be a good decision, as the second season quickly became the platform’s most popular show worldwide. It appeals to both new viewers and longtime anime/manga fans, with some story details rearranged or added to enhance the experience.
With season 2 of One Piece just released on Netflix, the show is poised for continued success. Positive reviews and a dedicated fanbase suggest it will stay popular in the coming weeks, and this bodes well for future adaptations of Oda’s original work.
