‘Ted’ Stars Talk ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ as Season 2 Honors Game in One of its Best Episodes [Exclusive]

Season two of the Ted series, created by Seth MacFarlane and starring Max Burkholder, premiered on March 5th. This show is a prequel to MacFarlane’s Ted films from 2012 and 2015, and follows the adventures of Ted, the talking teddy bear, and John Bennett as they navigate the ups and downs of high school. Set in the mid-1990s, the series also includes nostalgic references and fun moments, like a memorable scene with former President Bill Clinton.

I seriously laughed so hard during this season’s episode where Ted, John, and their family played Dungeons & Dragons! The whole premise – they’re playing to raise money, of all things – was hilarious, but what really made it amazing was how into the game the actors got. You could tell they actually knew what they were doing, and it made the episode so much more fun and memorable. It was a brilliant idea, and they totally nailed it!

In an interview with MovieWeb, Ted Season 2 stars Max Burkholder and Giorgia Wingham discussed filming the recent Dungeons & Dragons episode. Wingham revealed that Burkholder is a big fan of the game, which made the experience particularly enjoyable for him. While Burkholder admitted the episode was challenging to film, especially due to the costumes worn by him, Wingham, and Alanna Ubach, he knew he’d have the most fun on set.

Wingham said this seems perfect for Max, as he’s a huge ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ enthusiast.

I let her respond first because I already knew how things would go. I expected to enjoy myself the most, and I did, even though filming was really difficult and exhausting. It was a tough shoot, and the days ended up being much longer than we anticipated, forcing us to add extra days. I was comfortable in my costume, but it was rough for you in that leather corset, and for Alana in the 3D-printed armor – you both had a really hard time.

Wingham praised Burkholder’s passion for and expertise in Dungeons & Dragons, admitting it was challenging for her to learn the game. She also spoke fondly of working with her co-star, Brennan Lee Mulligan, who played Chris, the person running the game.

This episode involved a steep learning curve with ‘Dungeons & Dragons,’ and I really appreciated Max’s expertise. But the best part was collaborating with Brennan, whom I wasn’t familiar with before. It was a surprisingly great experience getting to work with him.

Before it even aired, the Ted episode featuring Dungeons & Dragons in Season 2 was predicted to be a highlight. The episode throws John, Ted, and the whole Bennett family into a detailed Dungeons & Dragons game, complete with costumes, and shows how each of them handles the experience – whether they embrace it or try to avoid it.

Currently, Peacock doesn’t intend to renew Ted for a third season, but a new animated spin-off series featuring the famous teddy bear is being created. Fans are hoping this new show will deliver similar over-the-top adventures, like the Dungeons & Dragons episode, and perhaps explore other imaginative worlds with elaborate costumes and stories. Season 2 of Ted is available to stream now on Peacock.
