Emily Maynard of The Bachelor fame has become a grandmother.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m losing it! I just saw that Ricki, Bethenny’s daughter – she’s only 20! – had her baby! Can you believe it? Bethenny, who I’ve followed forever, is now a grandma! I saw the announcement on Instagram, and I’m so happy for them both. Twenty years old and a mom! It’s just… amazing!
She and her husband, Tyler Johnson, announced the arrival of their grandchild with a heartwarming post on Instagram. They shared photos of themselves holding the new baby in the hospital and expressed their overwhelming joy, writing, ‘We became grandparents today!! The feeling is inexpressible. This is love,’ along with a quote from 1 John 4:7-11.
Hendrick had previously posted two black and white photos taken in the hospital. One showed a healthcare worker holding her newborn, who was wrapped in a blanket, while Hendrick rested in bed.
The second picture showed her stepfather cradling the baby while her mother watched, gently touching the child’s arm with affection.
‘Best day ever,’ she captioned the precious pair of snapshots.
This announcement follows her August social media post revealing she was pregnant, which included an ultrasound picture.
Us Weekly reported that she shared at the time, ‘I’m incredibly happy, but also worried since she won’t eat anything! I just know it’s a girl,’ announcing she was expecting a daughter.
Ricky Hendrick, the fiancé of Hendrick’s father, Maynard, tragically died in a plane crash in 2004 at the age of 24.
Maynard passed away before his partner, who was nineteen years old, discovered she was pregnant. She later gave birth to their child.
I’ve learned a sweet story about Hendrick’s name! While her full name is Josephine Riddick Hendrick, her mom actually calls her Ricki – it’s a beautiful way to remember her father.
The mother-of-six – who shares five young kids with Johnson – appeared on The Bachelor in 2011.
She won season 15 and got engaged to Brad Womack, but their relationship didn’t last long and they broke up soon after the show ended.
Maynard starred as The Bachelorette in season eight of the show in 2012. She got engaged to Jef Holm, but their relationship didn’t last, and they ended things before getting married.
She and Johnson got married in 2014 and have five children together: Jennings, 10, Gibson, 9, Gatlin, 8, Nola, 5, and Jones, 3.
After Hendrick announced she was pregnant, Maynard shared her thoughts on social media.
The new grandmother freely discusses her deep Christian beliefs, but shared that she wasn’t bothered by her daughter having a child before marriage.
Hendrick shared a question from a fan who wanted to know how her family reacted to her having a child without being married.
Maynard jokingly said in a video, ‘I’m strongly opposed to that! I can’t imagine anyone actually doing it – it’s completely unacceptable.’
Oh my gosh, it just kills me to think about it! Her little girl was just trying to explain how heartbroken her mom is – she kept saying how upset she was, and then she showed all these adorable baby things her mom bought, you know, getting ready for the grandbaby that… well, it just breaks my heart seeing all that. It’s just so sad!
She’s really upset about my pregnancy, honestly. She’s so angry she can barely stand to be around me and isn’t offering any support. She’s just furious, she said with a laugh.
