With the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn’s successful trilogy that started in 2014 has come to a close. Fans have been wondering what’s next for the team, especially since the movie ended with a new group forming and Chris Pratt hinting at a return as Star-Lord. Recently, some of the actors from the series have discussed the possibility of a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4.
Pom Klementieff and more on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4
At Emerald City Comic-Con, actors Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, and Mikaela Hoover – who play Kraglin, Yondu, and Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies – joined a panel discussion. CBR was also present when the actors were asked about the possibility of a fourth Guardians of the Galaxy film.
“I’m not sure,” Klementieff said. She explained that no one ever talked about making a fourth movie, and that the filmmakers always intended the story to be told in three films.
Gunn admitted that a fourth movie wasn’t really his decision to make. He explained that if Marvel Studios decided to move forward with another film, everything – from choosing the actors to writing the story – would depend on the screenwriter and the person in charge of the project. He added that by that point, someone was likely already working on it, and he wasn’t sure what would happen.
As a fan, I really agree with Michael Rooker – Marvel should let the Guardians saga finish strong. He’s right, that third movie was amazing, but also really emotional knowing it would be the last time we’d see this team together, which made it even more special. He also shared how much fun he had filming the Christmas special, and honestly, you could tell! He clearly loved being part of it, and it showed on screen.
The actor was happy with how the show concluded and felt it was best that it didn’t go on any longer. He explained that continuing the series would likely have led to the same drop in quality he saw with another show he did, The Walking Dead.
He expressed relief that things hadn’t escalated, saying it was getting dangerously close to becoming a chaotic situation. He just wanted it to stop.
