Yes, Kathryn Hahn is Disney’s live-action Mother Gothel for its new ‘Tangled’ movie

Mother knows best — Mother Hahn, that is.

Kathryn Hahn revealed on Instagram Tuesday that she’s been cast as Mother Gothel in Disney’s live-action remake of “Tangled.”

“I just learned what ‘OOTD’ means – outfit of the day!” said the actress, known for her role in “Agatha All Along.” She then showed off her look: jeans, glasses, and a large T-shirt featuring the character Mother Gothel. “It’s a simple, comfortable outfit – just what I wear every day,” she added.

Kathryn Hahn thoroughly enjoyed playing into the magical side of her character in ‘Agatha All Along,’ which continues the story from Marvel’s ‘WandaVision.’

Hahn shared a video with the caption “OOTD, Mother Gothel.” Disney Studios then reposted the video on their own social media, making the reference even clearer.

Disney announced that Kathryn Hahn will play Mother Gothel in their upcoming live-action version of Tangled, responding to fan requests for her to take on the villainous role.

Selma Blair’s casting comes after months of fans hoping, guessing, and excitedly discussing whether she’d be involved in the new movie. Reports surfaced in January that Blair was being considered for the part, and she’d been asked about the rumors at many public appearances since then. She usually avoided directly answering by talking about how much she liked the character or joking about playing witches.

Disney’s 2010 animated film, “Tangled,” is a reimagining of the classic “Rapunzel” story. It follows a young princess with extraordinarily long, magical blonde hair who was secretly kidnapped as a baby and hidden away in a tower. An old witch named Gothel (voiced by Donna Murphy) pretends to be Rapunzel’s mother in order to steal the magic from her hair.

The upcoming live-action version of the movie will likely feature Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, the charming thief who assists her in escaping her isolated tower, according to reports. It will be directed by Michael Gracey.
