Nadiya Bychkova was exploring cryotherapy – a treatment focused on improving recovery and extending lifespan – during a spa day, following her recent departure from Strictly Come Dancing.
The 36-year-old professional dancer, a veteran of the BBC dance show, has been let go by the show’s producers.
Before news came out that Nadiya wouldn’t be participating this year, she had already missed appearing on the popular Strictly tour for the second time.
Since the news broke that she was let go, she’s been vacationing in Turkey, staying at the luxurious Regnum The Crown resort, where accommodations cost around £3,000 per night.
On Tuesday she tried out cryotherapy as she showed off her toned figure in a light pink gym set.
Sports cryotherapy uses very cold temperatures to help athletes recover faster, decrease swelling, and relieve muscle soreness.
I’m still a bit gutted about Nadiya’s departure from Strictly – she hasn’t said anything publicly about it yet, and the BBC hasn’t announced the full cast for this year either. I’m really hoping we get some exciting new faces, but I’ll definitely miss her!
I’m hearing a lot of chatter lately, and wanted to set the record straight: those rumors about a performer being sidelined because of her age? Completely untrue! A source shared with me that those claims are way off base, and I can confirm that’s the case.
The decision not to renew her contract actually comes down to her difficult behavior behind the scenes and her close relationship with Dan Walker, who she competed with in 2021.
Her demanding behavior and temper backstage upset her fellow performers. Additionally, her split from Kai Widdrington, 30, created an uncomfortable atmosphere among the professional dancers, making it difficult for them to work together.
The couple’s two-year relationship caused problems with their managers, who prefer to avoid having former partners work together to maintain a positive team environment.
Someone familiar with the show explained that while ‘Strictly’ is meant to be fun and entertaining, a sense of competition is essential for it to be successful.
Network executives hope the professional dancers on the show will approach their partnerships with competitive spirit, pushing for strong performances without being overly aggressive or creating negative controversies, especially considering past bullying accusations.
Nadiya hasn’t had much success in her last three team-ups with celebrity partners, including Matt Goss. She hasn’t even reached the top ten with any of them.
To maintain the show’s quality, we’re hoping the next person to join the cast does a great job.
Several other professional dancers won’t be returning this year, including Michelle Tsiakkas, age 30, Luba Mushtuk, 36, and Gorka Márquez, 35.
On Tuesday, the Daily Mail reported that Karen Hauer, who has been a professional dancer on the show since 2012 – making her the longest-serving female dancer – will also be leaving.
Even though Karen had been on the show for 13 years, she only recently found out about the decision.
Karen’s most recent dance partner on the show was Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, known for his role in Gladiator. Before that, she partnered with footballer Paul Merson, and in 2023, she danced with comedian Eddie Kadi.
The Daily Mail reports that BBC executives are keeping Katya Jones on the show because she’s a fan favorite and they want to maintain viewership.
