Heartstopper creator issues update about release date for Netflix’s finale movie

The popular series Heartstopper is ending with a full-length movie, and fans are excited to learn when it will be released on Netflix. Filming finished last July, and the movie is currently scheduled to premiere sometime this year.

Author Alice Oseman, creator of the graphic novels that inspired the series, announced at the London Book Fair that fans will have to wait until after the final book comes out on July 2nd to see Heartstoppers Forever.

“It won’t be coming out before the book,” Oseman told Deadline.

I really wanted the book to be released first, so readers could discover how the story concludes on the page. The TV series was based on the book, not the other way around.

After filming finished, Oseman shared her excitement about the finished movie on Instagram.

Heartstopper is incredibly important to me, so sharing it with others has always felt a bit daunting. But the response has been amazing – everyone involved has put so much care, passion, and love into it, and I’m so grateful. Now, the real work begins – time to start editing!

The author had hinted that Heartstopper: Forever would be a touching and heartfelt conclusion to Nick and Charlie’s story.

When asked about her hopes for the film, Oseman explained that she primarily wanted it to be a moving and satisfying conclusion to the Heartstopper story.

This is a celebration of the impact Heartstopper has had on its fans, a farewell to the characters we’ve grown to love, and a glimpse into what their futures might hold.

All three seasons of Heartstopper can be streamed on Netflix.
