Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming remake of Man on Fire.
This eight-part TV series is adapted from the 2004 movie of the same name, featuring Denzel Washington as John Creasy, a former CIA agent who embarks on a mission of revenge when a young girl, Lupita, is taken hostage.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star in the new Netflix series Man on Fire, taking over the role previously held by Washington. The show premieres on April 30th.
The trailer begins with a voiceover explaining John Creasy’s past as a highly experienced soldier, having served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The voice acknowledges his impressive military background but then suggests that he’s past his prime.
The rest of the trailer works to disprove that idea, showing Creasy battling enemies determined to eliminate him. Following several intense and explosive scenes, Creasy declares, “You’re not going to survive this,” before blowing up explosives inside a prison.
