ITV hits back at claim This Morning is lining up new presenting duo with Tess Daly and Vernon Kay

ITV has addressed recent rumors about major changes to the presenters on This Morning. They’ve dismissed reports that Tess Daly and Vernon Kay, who are married, are being considered to join the show.

There are reports that producers are considering a new duo to take over from Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley when their contracts end. They’re hoping to find a pair with the same natural connection that Richard and Judy Madeley had when they presented the show.

The broadcaster denied those claims, reaffirming their support for Ben, Cat, Dermot O’Leary, and Alison Hammond.

I was reading Digital Spy, and ITV just confirmed they’re really happy with Cat, Ben, Alison, and Dermot hosting This Morning – and they have absolutely no plans to switch things up! So it sounds like they’re sticking with the current lineup, which is great to hear.

The show is starting 2026 strong, with viewership up compared to last year and an average of 3.7 million people tuning in each week.

Tess and Vernon recently co-hosted an episode of BBC One’s The One Show, filling in for the regular presenters.

The couple, married since 2003 and parents to two daughters, rarely appear together publicly. Their most notable collaboration was hosting the BBC competition show Just the Two of Us in the mid-2000s.

Shephard filled in as host on Lorraine after Lorraine Kelly lost her voice last week.

“If you’ve been watching this week, Lorraine’s voice has been getting very bad”, he said.

Things had been steadily declining, and it finally failed last night. She became almost completely unable to speak, which Steve, her husband, was actually happy about – she could only manage a few small sounds. I’m temporarily taking over the responsibility, just for today.

Both Lorraine and Loose Women are temporarily off the air as ITV reduces their broadcasting schedule to 30 weeks a year as part of cost-saving measures.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV1 and ITVX.
