Get ready for an incredible journey with season two of One Piece! Join Captain Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his cheerful crew as they sail the Grand Line in search of the ultimate treasure. These eight episodes will immerse you in their exciting and imaginative adventure.
Saying the new season of One Piece is an improvement over the first season doesn’t quite do it justice, considering how strong the Netflix show’s beginning was. The first season perfectly captured the nostalgic feeling of watching cartoons in the ’90s, and the new season continues that exciting story.
The second live-action anime installment is stronger because it focuses on character development. While we learn a little more about the existing characters—like Sanji, played by Taz Skylar—the real improvement comes from seeing how much they grow and change throughout the story, which is really satisfying.

Nami, played by Emily Rudd, starts to embrace her weaknesses, and Jacob Gibson’s character, Captain Usopp, discovers the true meaning of courage.
The crew has grown closer, creating a more dynamic and engaging connection. This naturally leads to a stronger connection with the world of One Piece, a world that’s constantly evolving with new allies and increasingly powerful foes.
These new characters actually enhance the story, bringing it to life. Charithra Chandran, known for her role in Bridgerton, gives a fantastic performance as Vivi, which surprisingly helps us understand why people are so devoted to Luffy and would follow him anywhere.
What to Read Next
Despite a rough start – including some insensitive reactions to him being a talking reindeer – Chopper quickly proves to be a delightful character. While the crew’s initial gawking could have been seen as rude, Chopper’s innocent and endearing personality immediately wins you over.
Long-standing enemies point out that the Straw Hats’ ambitious pursuit of their dreams inevitably attracts lasting danger.

The new assassins from Baroque Works are a fun addition to the show’s villains, each with unique personalities and unpredictable fighting styles that make them really entertaining. However, it’s Smoker, powerfully played by Callum Kerr, who truly stands out as a frightening and relentless threat, and his presence hints at trouble continuing into a potential third season.
As a huge fan, I have to say the action is what makes One Piece! The fight scenes are just incredible – a total burst of color and energy with all the kicking, punching, and sword fighting you could ask for. Honestly, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro is a standout – he absolutely steals the show! While everyone gets their moments, Zoro really takes control and dominates every fight with his skill.

Luffy unfortunately didn’t push himself creatively. Considering how inventive the show usually is, it was disappointing that he didn’t find new and interesting ways to use his abilities.
Still, nothing could take away from the brilliance of season two.
Honestly, it just felt good to be back in a game world where, even when things get really tough, there’s still a strong sense of hope. It’s the kind of feeling everyone needs sometimes, you know?

One Piece season 1 and 2 are available to watch now on Netflix.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
