Kyle Sandilands has publicly stated he feels silenced by his employer, the Australian Radio Network. He claims they’ve prevented him from communicating with his co-host, Jackie O Henderson, and other colleagues.
The radio personality, 54, spoke directly to his audience in a detailed statement on Tuesday regarding the growing conflict that led to his suspension from The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
He started by saying he wanted to address his listeners, coworkers, and the general public about recent events.
On February 20th, I had a disagreement with Jackie during the broadcast about an issue that had been troubling me for some time. I later regretted some of the things I said.
Sandilands went on to say that he privately apologised after the on-air spat.
That evening, I messaged Jackie to apologize for anything I’d said that upset her. I told her I loved and cared about her, and that I should have reacted differently. I truly meant it then, and I still feel the same way now.
He went on to say that he and Jackie have been colleagues and friends for more than 25 years, and she’s a hugely important person in his life. He was heartbroken at the thought of their working relationship ending this way.
Sandilands went on to claim ARN had imposed some strict conditions amid the fallout.
ARN informed me that I’m prohibited from contacting Jackie and speaking with my coworkers. Despite understanding their request, it was incredibly difficult because it prevented me from doing what I normally would – simply talking to the people I’ve worked with throughout my career.
Okay, so here’s what really happened. They cut Jackie loose – her contract was gone – on the exact same day they started claiming I’d done something wrong! Then, just to make things worse, they suspended me from work. And the whole time, they were telling me to just be quiet and not say a word about any of it. Honestly, it felt so unfair and totally rigged – it wasn’t a real investigation at all, it was a setup!
He admitted Henderson had mentioned being upset, but he maintained they always handled their problems in private.
This isn’t a straightforward situation, and I acknowledge Jackie’s hurt feelings. We’ve faced challenges before and always resolved them together – that’s what you do in a partnership. We’ve always been able to work things out privately, without needing lawyers or public statements. I believe we could have done the same this time if ARN had allowed us the opportunity.
He stated he has a contract with ARN that lasts until 2034, and he intends to honor it. He firmly denied any wrongdoing, despite claims to the contrary. His priority is to continue broadcasting and connect with his listeners, as that’s been his career for many years.
I’m urging ARN to keep its promise and allow me to continue focusing on entertaining the fans who have supported the show for over twenty years.
He concluded: ‘To my listeners: Thank you. I miss you. I’ll be back.’
On Tuesday, Sandilands was seen appearing sad as he returned to his home in Vaucluse.
Even though he was dressed casually, Sandilands made a grand entrance, arriving in his sleek, black $400,000 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, a 2026 model.
For his casual outing, Sandilands wore a simple black T-shirt and shorts, looking relaxed and comfortable.
I noticed the shock jock completed his outfit with a classic black Dodgers cap and some seriously stylish Dita sunglasses – they retail for around $2,400! It’s a high-end touch to a pretty casual look, and shows he definitely knows how to accessorize.
Okay, seriously, did you SEE the backpack?! It was this amazing black Versace nylon one, and I immediately looked it up – $1700! Can you believe it? It’s just… perfect. He has such incredible taste, and that backpack just screams luxury. I need one, obviously.
Sandilands appeared focused and professional as he entered the $14 million home he shares with his wife, Tegan Kynaston, and their three-year-old son, Otto.
Business seemed to be the main focus, as Sandilands’ manager, Bruno Bouchet, arrived shortly after.
Wasting no time, Bouchet was already working on his laptop as he walked to Sandilands’ door.
After the situation unfolded, many people started sharing theories about what really happened, with a lot of them suggesting the whole thing was staged.
After the announcement, someone commented online, ‘It’s a pretty clear way to break a contract and then launch a new radio program elsewhere.’
Someone suggested the show’s poor ratings might be the reason it was canceled, implying it was a convenient excuse.
Honestly, it just feels like the network is scrambling to protect itself financially. Someone pointed out that this whole thing seems designed to stop them from losing a huge amount of money – we’re talking tens of millions of dollars – because their attempt to expand into Melbourne really didn’t work out.
Some people speculated that the disagreement and eventual firing of Henderson were simply cost-cutting measures for a struggling industry.
Someone commented that their ratings in Melbourne are really low, and ARN has spent a huge amount of money on their contract, despite the radio industry facing difficulties.
Claims that the fracas was a publicity stunt were dismissed by a former colleague of the radio duo.
Mitch Churi, a long-time radio personality who worked with the KIIS FM hosts for over ten years, recently stated on his podcast that the reported disagreement wasn’t staged to boost ratings.
‘I was there for ten years and have so many friends entangled in it. No, it’s not PR,’ he said.
Entertainment reporter Peter Ford also challenged the idea that Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson were planning to return to the air together, during a recent interview on the Sunrise program.
When Matt Shirvington inquired about the possibility of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson returning to radio, Ford simply answered, ‘No’.
‘People I know are thinking, ‘Oh it was a publicity stunt after all,” he added.
He strongly reaffirmed his belief that the two parties will not be working together on air again anytime soon, stating, ‘I don’t think there’s any chance of them reuniting on air in the foreseeable future.’
Ford explained that KIIS FM’s owner, Australian Radio Network (ARN), publicly confirmed this in a statement released to the Australian Stock Exchange on March 3rd.
He explained that the original announcement wasn’t a press release, but a statement made to the stock exchange a week prior.
‘You can tell fibs in a press release. You can’t do that in something to the stock exchange.’
Ford explained that because the statement used the word ‘termination’ regarding Henderson, it was very unlikely he would return to the radio show, The Kyle & Jackie O Show.
He stated that Jackie O’s contract was definitely over, emphasizing it wasn’t just being considered – it had already been ended.
Last week, ARN, the company that owns KIIS FM, announced they were ending Jackie’s $100 million contract. This came after she informed management she could no longer work with Kyle Sandilands due to his critical on-air remarks, which had upset her greatly.
ARN has sent a written notice to Sandilands, informing him that his actions on the February 20th show were a serious violation of his contract with Quasar Media.
Kyle was suspended and given 14 days to ‘remedy’ the breach, or else he faces termination.
According to The Australian, the radio personality is threatening legal action against ARN if they cancel his $100 million contract after the cancellation of his KIIS FM show, ‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show’. He has reportedly hired lawyers to prepare a lawsuit.
