Finally.
Okay, so James Gunn just dropped a new teaser for “Supergirl,” and honestly, the biggest takeaway is Jason Momoa as Lobo! We finally got a good look, and you can feel how excited Momoa is to be playing this role – and trust me, the fans are just as hyped. It’s a fantastic first reveal, and I’m already intrigued by what this could mean for the film.
A video posted on James Gunn’s Instagram shows Jason Momoa stepping out of his trailer with a cigar. When asked about taking on the role, Momoa flashed a grin, revealing his prosthetic fangs. The video then showed a clip from “Supergirl” featuring Momoa as Lobo, laughing while riding a motorcycle. Momoa also shared the video on his own account.
James Gunn shared a longer preview of the upcoming ‘Supergirl’ film on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a ‘grand entrance.’ The 30-second clip shows scenes from the first teaser, featuring actress Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El battling enemies in space, culminating in the arrival of Lobo. Like the initial trailer, it uses Blondie’s song ‘Call Me’.

Essay: ‘Superman’ isn’t superwoke. Why the backlash is overblown
Before the movie came out, some conservative voices complained that ‘Superman’ seemed too supportive of immigrants. However, Superman remains a fundamentally American character.
Craig Gillespie is directing a new movie about Supergirl. The story begins as she turns 23 and then encounters Ruthye Marye Knoll (played by Eve Ridley). This leads Supergirl on a journey to confront a surprising and formidable enemy. The film stars Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham, and is based on the popular comic book series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, with a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.
Jason Momoa is well-known for playing DC superhero Aquaman. He previously starred as Arthur Curry, the hesitant ruler of Atlantis who is half-Atlantean, in the films “Aquaman” (2018) and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” (2023).
Playing Lobo is a perfect fit for Momoa, who has often said the character is his all-time favorite.
In a 2023 interview with Fandango, the actor stated he’d always wanted to play Lobo and would immediately accept if offered the role. He emphasized his eagerness to either be offered the part directly or to audition. He was officially cast in the role in 2024.
“Supergirl” will hit theaters June 26.
