The critically acclaimed medical drama The Pitt already shares a link with the popular series Breaking Bad, and that connection has grown stronger with one of the patients featured in season 2 of The Pitt. Taylor Dearden, daughter of Breaking Bad‘s lead actor Bryan Cranston, plays Dr. Mel King in what is currently her biggest role. Now, another actor from Breaking Bad has joined the cast.
The web series The Pitt has featured familiar faces playing patients and their families, including Mackenzie Astin from Scandal and Amanda Schull from Suits. A standout character in season 2 is Digby, a homeless patient who’s quickly becoming a fan favorite. Viewers of Breaking Bad may recognize the actor Charles Digby, who had a significant role in that popular show.
The Pitt Season 2’s Digby Also Played Skinny Pete In Breaking Bad
Charles Baker is best known for playing Skinny Pete, a close friend of Jesse Pinkman in the TV show Breaking Bad. Similar to his character Digby, Skinny Pete is both funny and likable. He occasionally sells meth with Jesse, but often wishes he could leave that life behind, either to go straight or because he finds the drug trade too dangerous.
One of the show’s funniest plots involves Skinny Pete and Badger going to Narcotics Anonymous, hoping to find people to buy Jesse’s meth. However, they unexpectedly start participating in the recovery program and feel bad about potentially disrupting others’ sobriety.
Charles Baker, who played Skinny Pete in Breaking Bad, also appears in the sequel film, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. In El Camino, he reinforces his dedication to Jesse, establishing himself as one of the few genuinely reliable friends in the series. Baker’s portrayal of a character who provides both comic relief and a certain naiveté, despite a troubled background, makes him a great fit for the role of Digby in The Pitt.
Digby Is A Great Supporting Character In The Pitt Season 2
Digby’s arrival in season 2 of The Pitt was shocking. He was brought to the emergency room covered in dirt and with a very old, broken arm cast. When doctors removed the cast, they discovered his forearm was infested with maggots. Digby’s terrible condition highlights the desperate circumstances many vulnerable people face.
Despite a difficult situation, Digby has remained cheerful and kind, bringing a positive energy to those around him. He was cooperative and friendly as Dana helped him get medical attention. Once, when the team was working to save someone’s life, Digby thoughtfully moved out of the way and then gave them an encouraging double thumbs up.
The Pitt’s Supporting Cast Is What Makes The Show So Special
What sets The Pitt apart from other medical dramas is how it focuses on its patients. Instead of wrapping up each patient’s story in a single episode, the show dedicates an entire season to following their journeys, as each season takes place over just one day. This approach allows for richer character development and more subtle hints about what’s to come.
The show moves quickly, and the emergency room is always bustling, which makes every patient’s situation feel urgent. Because there’s so much happening, any focus on a particular character or storyline feels important. With so much to cover, it becomes clear that even the simplest cases on The Pitt are actually quite serious.
As a total cinema devotee, I’ve noticed something really interesting about shows like this – you end up caring just as much about the patients as you do the doctors, especially when they become familiar faces. Take Louie from The Pitt, for example – he was so lovable and had such a compelling backstory. Now, with season 2 of The Pitt, they’re doing the same thing with Digby, and I’m already starting to feel really invested in his journey. It’s a testament to great character work when you connect with them so quickly!
