Ed Sheeran fans slams Gen Z for bad etiquette at Australian concerts: ‘Just there for the social media photo’

Ed Sheeran fans have come under fire for their poor concert etiquette.

The world-famous performer began his Australian Loop Tour in Perth on January 31st and has been performing across the country ever since.

People who went to the UK singer’s concert in Adelaide last week took to Reddit to complain about younger fans talking loudly throughout the performance.

An angry concertgoer reported that four teenagers sat behind them and talked loudly throughout nearly the entire show.

After the third song, I’d had enough. I rudely told them to be quiet because it’s disrespectful to talk so loudly during a performance that others can’t hear the music.

They talked all night long, and nothing could interrupt them. The most memorable thing anyone said was, ‘Just so you know, I haven’t brushed my teeth yet!’

‘Why pay $150 for a ticket to talk through the whole event?’

The original post sparked many similar complaints from people who also went to concerts on Sheeran’s Loop Tour.

I’ve definitely seen this happen – people gathering and chatting, then music starts playing and instead of adjusting, they just talk over it, trying to be heard. Honestly, it’s incredibly frustrating when you’re trying to enjoy the atmosphere!

Someone else mentioned the Ed Sheeran concert was full of people who seemed more interested in taking pictures for social media than actually listening to the music.

Another fan shared a similar experience at a show, saying they were extremely frustrated just fifteen minutes in. They felt it was spoiling what should have been a nice evening with their wife.

I asked the two young women and one of their partners to be respectful and quiet during the performance. I initially tried to be polite, but I eventually lost my patience.

Someone else shared that the experience was even more difficult for those standing in the general admission area. They said people were actively pushing and trying to move forward, starting during Mia Wray’s performance and continuing until Ed Sheeran took the stage.

Someone else added that a great concert was spoiled by loud, off-key singing from young girls who shouted over the music.

Honestly, I’ve noticed something totally different at concerts lately, especially for artists who appeal to people my age. It’s not really about watching the show anymore, you know? It feels like everyone just goes to hang out with their friends and chat – the music is almost secondary! It’s wild how much things have changed; it’s not the same experience it used to be at all.

Ed concluded his Australian tour with a final performance at the Adelaide Oval on March 5th, bringing an end to over a month of shows nationwide.

Ed Sheeran surprised and delighted fans last month with a pop-up performance in Sydney before his concerts at Accor Stadium this weekend.

The popular singer, age 35, joined the Irish band Beoga on stage. Beoga were performing an encore after their own concert at the Paddington RSL.

Ed was a huge hit singing lead on two songs, one of which was the classic folk song, Wild Mountain Thyme.

He performed a stunning version of his hit song “Shape of You,” backed by the group supporting him on the Australian part of his Loop Tour.

Video of the impromptu performance was later shared on social media.
