Feud erupts between Kelsea Ballerini’s exes as Morgan Evans mocks Chase Stokes over attack on ‘masculinity’

Kelsea Ballerini’s former partners seem to be escalating their public disagreement, starting after her previous boyfriend made critical remarks about her ex-husband.

Country singer Morgan Evans playfully responded to a comment made by his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend, Chase Stokes. Stokes had questioned Evans’s ‘masculinity’ on Instagram, so Evans shared a photo of himself showing off his physique while doing outdoor work.

After facing criticism about his physical strength, the 40-year-old Australian country singer playfully showed off his abilities this week by posting funny photos of himself lifting a small refrigerator and chopping wood.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Evans, Stokes and Ballerini to request comment. 

Evans cleverly had the last laugh with his latest post. He playfully teased Kelsea Ballerini’s former boyfriend and subtly promoted his new album by including a vinyl copy of it in the pictures.

Evans posted, playfully referencing a recent comment by Stokes, ‘Feeling pretty masculine today!’ He also announced his album will be released in two weeks.

He showed off his muscular arms and fit physique in a post, playfully lifting a small refrigerator above his head while gazing intently into the distance.

Evans tried to paint himself as a comically stereotypical manly man as he proceeded to chop wood.

He posted a quick video of himself chopping wood. However, right as he swung the ax, the person filming released a little brown dog, which playfully ran after him as he went up a hill.

Evans shared a picture of himself standing next to a black Toyota pickup truck, with the hood up and him pointing at the engine.

He featured a vinyl copy of his new album, Steel Town, in many of the photos. The album is set to come out on March 20th.

Evans deliberately left the item in several obvious spots: on top of his woodpile, propped against a log, and leaning against the open hood of the truck engine.

Bobby Bones, after an interview with Evans sparked criticism from Stokes about traditional masculinity, simply said, ‘I laughed.’

Okay, so here’s the deal with this whole drama – it seems like things kicked off when Chase Stokes, you probably know him from Outer Banks, publicly called Kelsea Ballerini ‘pathetic’. Apparently, this was a reaction to something she shared in an interview on Bobby Bones’ podcast last week. It really came out of nowhere, and now everyone’s talking about it!

Okay, seriously, I was fuming when I saw this guy’s comment! It was just the most embarrassing display of… well, everything! I mean, he literally wrote, ‘Get a fing life!’ on Instagram. It was so over-the-top and just… pathetic. I can’t believe someone would actually say something like that. He deleted it, thankfully, but I’m still completely annoyed by it!

Evans revealed in the interview that he was surprised when Kelsea Ballerini told him she wanted a divorce in 2022, saying he hadn’t anticipated that discussion.

‘I definitely wasn’t [expecting it], and it took me by surprise,’ Evans told Bones, 45.

Looking back, that period feels like a distant dream. It’s hard to believe it was actually me going through it all. It was a truly whirlwind experience that completely changed my life.

Evans has stated that the way the media has presented the story of his divorce from Ballerini isn’t accurate and paints him in a negative light.

‘In my case, it didn’t feel like it necessarily had a lot to do with me,’ Evans said. 

I felt like I became the poster child for men who had hurt women during that time. Some of the accusations were so strange, I didn’t even understand what people were referring to.

‘It doesn’t not hurt…especially if it was real vicious or something,’ he added.

I’d check out the profile of whoever made the comment, and usually realize they were just having a difficult moment.

In a video posted to Instagram, Bones from the BobbyCast podcast reacted to a comment made by Stokes, saying that if someone is going to be aggressive online, they shouldn’t delete their statement afterward.

He stated he didn’t have a problem with Stokes, but implied that those who attribute characteristics to others might be struggling with their own self-confidence and traditional ideas of masculinity.

He found the whole idea of ‘masculinity’ strange, wondering why anyone would question another person’s manhood.

‘By the way Morgan Evans is like 6’2 and freaking strapped,’ he added.

Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans divorced after marrying in 2017. Following the divorce, she had an on-again, off-again relationship with Chase Stokes for three years.

According to Us Weekly, the couple separated again in February, only a month after getting back together. A source said Stokes wasn’t ready to end things, but Ballerini had reached her limit.

At first, it looked like Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans were handling their September breakup well. Reports soon surfaced, though, that they had decided to try dating again just three months after splitting up.

Around the New Year, their relationship fell apart, according to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail. Continuing jealousy from Stokes and their differing ambitions created distance between them.

Meanwhile, Evans is currently dating singer Laci Kaye Booth, 30. 

Evans hinted in his 2022 song, ‘Over for You,’ that he was taken aback when Ballerini filed for divorce.

In the opening verse, he sang, ‘How long have you been waiting to take those pictures of us down? How long have you been falling apart? And why am I only learning about this now?’

In the song’s chorus, he asks: ‘How often did you tell me you loved me when it wasn’t real? I’m just trying to figure out how long you’ve been over this relationship.’

Ballerini then responded with her own song, Blindsided (Yeah, Sure, Okay).

The couple started dating in 2016 and got married in 2017 in a beautiful ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. After almost five years together, they announced their divorce in August 2022.
