I’m so excited! Ted Lasso is coming back for a fourth season this summer after a three-year break, and honestly, the stakes feel really high. It’s happening right as the US is hosting a huge soccer tournament, and Ted’s got a brand new work challenge to tackle too. I can’t wait to see what happens!
Season 4 of Ted Lasso will see many familiar faces return, but the main storyline will center on Ted helping a newly formed women’s football team. AFC Richmond is starting a women’s side, and Ted’s job will be to coach them to success and build strong relationships with the players.
Season 4 of Ted Lasso has a lot to cover. In addition to continuing Ted’s story, it needs to wrap up loose ends from previous seasons – like what happens with Ted’s marriage, who Keeley ends up with, and whether AFC Richmond can compete for the Premier League title. It will be a challenge to balance these existing storylines with the new chapter of the show.
Ted Lasso Season 4 Marks The Show’s Comeback After 3 Years
Initially, the creators of Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis and Bill Lawrence, envisioned the show lasting only three seasons. So, the development of a fourth season came as a surprise. However, Bill Lawrence has shared that the new season will focus on Ted beginning a fresh start by coaching a different football team.
Okay, so Ted Lasso is back, but with a twist! He’s still at AFC Richmond, but he’s now coaching the women’s team instead of the men’s. While we’ll definitely see some of our favorite characters return, not everyone from the first three seasons will be back. And get ready for a bunch of new faces joining Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham – it’s going to be a mix of the familiar and the fresh!
It’s been three years since Ted Lasso last aired, and the show faces a challenge to maintain its popularity with a new storyline. While Ted was successful coaching men’s soccer, the world of women’s soccer presents a fresh set of obstacles.
Season 4 Features A Major Change In Ted’s Role
Adding a women’s football team could be exactly what Ted Lasso needs to reach an even higher level in its fourth season, and it provides a fresh storyline to keep the show interesting. But Ted’s relationship with the women’s team will likely be different than when he first started coaching the men’s team.
I’m really excited to see Ted try to bring his ‘total football’ ideas to this new team! It’s going to be interesting to see how he adjusts his approach to managing players, though – the women’s game is different, and he’ll need to understand that. Plus, we already know and love Ted and Coach Beard, but all the players are brand new faces, which is a really fun opportunity to get to know a whole new group of characters.
It’s natural to compare these new players to stars like Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, and Colin Hughes, which puts a lot of expectation on them to be funny, heartwarming, and exciting. But if anyone can help them shine, it’s definitely Ted Lasso.
Ted Lasso’s New Season Will Miss Some Of The Show’s Best Characters
Nick Mohammed, who played Nate on Ted Lasso, has shared that season four will introduce new characters. Meanwhile, it’s still unclear if Phil Dunster will return as Jamie Tartt, and if he does, it will likely be for a very short appearance. This suggests we’ll have to adjust to the show with some familiar faces missing.
Roy Kent, played by Brett Goldstein, will still appear, but mostly from a distance as he focuses on his new job as manager. We’re looking forward to seeing Tanya Reynolds as Ted’s new assistant and discovering the stars of the Richmond women’s team, but this season definitely feels like the end of a chapter.
Season 4 of Ted Lasso will feel both familiar and new. While the show will retain its core elements, it’s still uncertain if it can maintain the same high quality as previous seasons.
