Maren Morris blasted supporters of President Donald Trump in a fiery new video.
The 35-year-old country singer shared a TikTok video on Friday where she playfully called Donald Trump a ‘cornball’ and suggested voters were misled.
The artist, who has criticized country music in the past, began a video by saying she holds no sympathy for those who strongly support Donald Trump, adding that they knowingly voted for the current situation.
She described him as an aging, former television host struggling with dementia and requiring assistance with daily tasks, adding that voters had been misled by supporting him.
‘This is literally the result of employing and voting for losers,’ she added.
Morris ridiculed Fox News host Pete Hegseth, finishing the segment with a harsh comment about Hegseth’s appearance, saying, “Oh my God. Girl, look at his sideburns – he looks like an alcoholic. You’re finished.”
The caption of the video read, ‘sorry to empty the clip.’
Maren Morris, a country artist famous for songs like “The Bones” and “My Church,” is well-known for speaking her mind.
Okay, so this artist? They’re just… amazing. Not just because of the music, but because they care. They’re always using their platform to fight for what’s right – seriously, they’re so outspoken against everything I hate about conservative politics and those awful right-wing media outlets. And it’s not just talk! They actually champion things like LGBTQ+ rights and racial justice, which just makes me love them even more. It’s like they get it, you know?
Last June, Morris publicly celebrated her first Pride event after coming out as bisexual, marking a departure from the country music world that brought her initial success.
The singer labelled parts of the genre as ‘toxic’ in 2023.
In 2024, Morris publicly shared that she is bisexual in an Instagram post, expressing her pride with the message, ‘Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+, happy pride!’
Maren Morris was married to country singer Ryan Hurd before, and they have a five-year-old son named Hayes Andrew Hurd.
The singer had always known she was attracted to people of all genders, but she never felt comfortable sharing that publicly before now.
She explained to The Zoe Report that after fifteen years focused on her music and life in Nashville, and being in heterosexual relationships, she didn’t feel confident enough to discuss her feelings.
In June 2024, however, she finally overcame that fear.
She explained that she decided to share that part of herself because she wanted a deeper connection with her fans and the LGBTQ+ community. She emphasized how important community has been, especially after her divorce, calling it ‘life-saving.’ She believes that being open and vulnerable is the key to finding that sense of belonging.
Maren shared her feelings after speaking out about comments she made in 2023, where she discussed wanting to leave the negative environment she felt existed in country music.
In an interview with the New York Times’ Popcast podcast last September, the singer shared that she often feels pressured to accept and make light of other people’s negative actions.
The musician explained, ‘Especially after 2020, I just wasn’t able to do that. I’ve gone through a lot of changes, and that year really transformed me.’
She said she didn’t want to leave, but she could no longer be involved with the harmful environment within the organization.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, she expressed feeling overwhelmed and wanting to completely rebuild her life. She admitted thinking about drastically changing things, but realized things were already falling apart on their own.
Morris later explained in a 2025 interview with The Guardian that she hadn’t actually said she was leaving country music.
Maren Morris’s recent comments about leaving country music, as highlighted in a Los Angeles Times article titled ‘Maren Morris is getting the hell out of country music: “I’ve said everything I can say,” ‘ were described by Morris as ‘really unfortunate.’
She clarified that she isn’t abandoning country music, explaining that it’s deeply ingrained in who she is as an artist. ‘You can definitely hear country influences on this album,’ she told the publication. ‘It’s impossible for me to separate it from my music – it’s just a natural part of how I write and the sound I create.’ She was discussing her fourth studio album, Dreamsicle.
She explained the article created a lot of unnecessary conflict with that community, as she was already having issues with them. She clarified she doesn’t regret her statement, but simply hadn’t expressed it in the way the article suggested.
The singer, a resident of Nashville for the past twelve years, stated she won’t be moving because of any conflict.
Even though she’s changed record labels and no longer tours the country radio scene, and doesn’t enter her songs for awards like the Country Music Awards or Academy of Country Music Awards, she continues to collaborate with the same team she always has.
She said it would feel wrong to say she’d outgrown her older music. She explained that it would feel like she was dismissing the work she’d already created, and she definitely doesn’t feel that way.
I deeply value the connection with my fans and the communities they’ve built around my music. I would never intentionally abandon them – it would be thoughtless and hurtful.
