Everyone goes through a time when life feels full of possibility, dreams feel within reach, and feelings are intense. It’s rare to see this period captured authentically on TV. We often see shows with parties, drama between friends, and relationship issues, but what about something deeper, more captivating, and truly memorable? One thrilling series does just that, and it’s even more compelling now, four years after its first season.
Hulu released a captivating adaptation of Carola Lovering’s novel in 2022. This erotic thriller is full of steamy scenes, deeply intertwined characters, and surprising plot twists. Unlike some shows in this genre that lack relatable characters, this one keeps you invested in the story and the people within it. Once you start watching Tell Me Lies, you’ll find it hard to stop.
‘Tell Me Lies’ Is a Great Steamy Weekend Binge and It Gets Better Over Time

Okay, let’s address it directly: the show Tell Me Lies features a significant amount of sexual content. The story centers on Lucy Albright (played by Grace Van Patten) and her passionate, immediate connection with Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) at Baird College. Their scenes together are very intense and captivating. We also see intimate moments between Bree (Catherine Missal) and her fiancé, Evan (Branden Cook), and the developing relationship between Pippa (Sonia Mena) and Wrigley (Spencer House).
Despite a potentially sensational premise, Tell Me Lies actually improves as the seasons go on. It’s not a shallow show that just uses sex to grab attention. Instead, each episode explores the complexities of desire and intimacy, raising thoughtful questions about consent and the true needs within relationships.
The show kicks off with Lucy and Stephen entangled in a complex and somewhat troubling love triangle. Their connection continues in the second season, while Bree navigates a passionate but difficult relationship. By Season 3, which debuted on Hulu in January 2026, everyone’s lives have become chaotic, leaving viewers questioning if anyone will find happiness. With only 10 episodes in the first season and 8 in the following two, the entire series is a quick watch – perfect for a weekend binge as you try to figure out what will happen next and how these characters could possibly face even more drama.
What really makes this show stand out is Stephen – he’s deeply flawed, to say the least. He’s incredibly manipulative, much more like a villain than a typical charming TV boyfriend. While he isn’t a murderer, he’s concealing a dark secret, and his emotional games are masterful – almost worthy of academic study. Fortunately, unlike some shows that get canceled too soon, Tell Me Lies ran for three strong seasons that consistently deliver.
‘Tell Me Lies’ Ended At the Perfect Time
Just before the final episode of Tell Me Lies Season 3 aired, viewers learned the show wouldn’t be returning for another season. Meaghan Oppenheimer, the showrunner and creator, shared on Instagram that this was the ending she and her writing team had planned all along. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to tell a complete story with a deliberate conclusion, something few shows are allowed to do.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in February 2026, Oppenheimer shared:
I was most afraid of a finale that didn’t feel complete, one that left too many questions unanswered. That would have felt like letting down the people who supported us.
With how popular Tell Me Lies was, many viewers likely hoped for another season. However, the show ultimately works well as a complete story in just three seasons – it’s dark, engaging, and neatly wraps things up. As the creator mentioned in The Hollywood Reporter, the second season ends on a cliffhanger, which is exciting! While that makes you want more, the finale still resolves the central plotlines while staying true to the show’s realistic message: life is complicated and doesn’t always go as planned. Just like in college, the parties and exams eventually stop, but life’s ups and downs continue, right?
