BBC Radio 1 presenter announces she is expecting her first child after IVF treatment as she shows off her growing bare baby bump

Radio 1 host Lauren Layfield and her husband, Luke Beddows, are expecting a baby – their first child together.

On Friday evening, the DJ shared exciting news with her fans on Instagram, revealing she’s expecting a baby and displaying her baby bump.

Lauren announced some exciting news: they’re expecting a baby! She jokingly called it a surprising change of pace for them.

Okay, so life took a bit of an unexpected turn! After nearly 20 years as a couple, we’re welcoming a little IVF baby – we call him Beddows – and honestly, it’s a delightful chaos! He’s arriving in June, and while it’s a big change, we’re embracing the beautiful disruption. It’s a new chapter, and we couldn’t be more excited…and a little bit overwhelmed!

A photo showed Lauren having a snack while wearing underwear, with her husband Luke’s hand resting on her stomach.

A second photo accompanying her pregnancy announcement showed Luke holding up their ultrasound image while they were on a London Underground platform.

Fans and celebrity friends alike showered Lauren, the well-known presenter, with congratulatory messages.

Melvin Odoom responded with a congratulatory message, sending a heart emoji and writing, “Wonderful news!” Michelle Ackerley simply wrote, “Congratulations!!”

One fan exclaimed their excitement, writing, “Oh my God! This is amazing news! Congratulations ❤️ It looks like the recording studio really delivered!”

Lauren presents The Official Chart: First Look show and Radio 1‘s LifeHacks for the BBC.

In 2024 she took over the show with Shanequa Paris from Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton.

Life Hacks is a weekly show and podcast that tackles the issues young people face, with honest and open conversations. It airs every Sunday from 4 to 6 PM.

Lauren expressed her excitement about joining BBC Radio 1, saying she was thrilled to become part of the team.
