Netflix has greenlit a new drama series created by Jacob Tierney, known for his work on Heated Rivalry. This project marks a significant shift for Tierney, moving his focus from the world of modern ice hockey to the setting of Ancient Greece.
I’m so excited for the new series, Alexander! It’s based on Annabel Lyon’s fantastic book, The Golden Mean, which I read years ago. And get this – Jason Bateman, who I love in everything, is helping produce it! I heard about it on Tudum and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
The series starts at a time when the Athenian empire is falling apart. Simultaneously, Aristotle, considered one of history’s most brilliant thinkers, travels to Macedonia to educate the headstrong Prince Alexander.

Surrounded by palace secrets, a dangerous romance, fierce battles, and relentless power grabs, their surprising friendship ultimately built an empire and changed the world forever.
Tierney, the writer and director, shared that this project has been years in the making. She explained she first discovered and loved Annabel Lyon’s novel, The Golden Mean, a long time ago and has wanted to bring the story to life ever since.
