Viewers have been following Gia Fleur’s struggles to make her marriage work with Scott McCristal on the reality show Married At First Sight, as their difficult relationship plays out on TV.
But away from the cameras, the reality of Gia’s love life has taken a very different turn.
According to an exclusive report in the Daily Mail, the 35-year-old has found love with Alan Wallace, a star from the show ‘Love Triangle.’ They began dating quietly after filming concluded and have moved on from the original experiment.
Their relationship started slowly, but it has quickly become serious. They’ve confirmed they are a couple and are already talking about their future together.
Gia shared that she and her partner had been talking for a while before they started dating at the beginning of the year.
‘The relationship began officially around New Year’s Eve, but we were talking for a couple months off and on before then,’ she explained.
Gia says she and the other person first met towards the end of filming for the Channel Nine show. They were introduced by Ali Daher from the Daily Mail at a Vodka Soda & Party in Sydney.
She said they had talked over FaceTime during the final week of shooting, but didn’t actually meet face-to-face until a party in December.
Gia says she felt an instant connection with Alan the moment they met and knew she was interested in him right away.
She admitted that she was immediately drawn to Alan, realizing she liked him when she found herself feeling jealous watching him talk to another woman.
I totally spent the whole day trailing him, completely obsessed with whether he and this other person were going to kiss! From the moment I saw him, I just knew he was ‘the one’ for me – he just hasn’t realized it yet, of course.
Gia and her partner had an instant connection, but she says her feelings really deepened when she discovered they shared the same core beliefs.
I was immediately attracted to him because he was emotionally intelligent and thoughtful – exactly what relationship experts had advised me to look for, at least on the surface.
Based on our attachment styles, shared desires, and how well we connected, I realized this was more than just attraction – it was genuine compatibility.
Gia realized her feelings for him deepened when she moved to Melbourne after a brief time on the Gold Coast, and suddenly wanted to be with him constantly.
She realized it was becoming serious when she returned to Melbourne and found herself wanting to be with him constantly, and she acted on those feelings.
I longed for his attention even when we were together, and we were both completely consumed by each other. I desired that same level of devotion in return, and thankfully, we shared that mutual intensity.
Alan, 35, a former contestant on the dating show Love Triangle, said he was a little hesitant at first because Gia had just finished appearing on a very intense reality TV program.
After going through something so intense, I expected it to be really difficult to deal with,” he said, describing the period following his time on the Married at First Sight show.
Honestly, I was a little hesitant about whether she was emotionally available for a relationship, or even wanted something serious so soon. It’s always a tricky thing, gauging where someone’s at emotionally, and you want to be respectful of their timeline.
Even with his worries, he found himself attracted to Gia right away and became fascinated by the interest she was showing him.
I was definitely interested in her, but what impressed me most was how much effort she was making.
Even though I didn’t seem very interested in her at first, she was already curious about me, asking friends what I was up to.
Alan shared that Gia had been secretly watching him for a while before they started dating.
‘When I went to Thailand last year she was asking around to see what I was doing,’ he said.
At first, I didn’t think she was very interested, but it became clear she was trying hard, and I wasn’t responding with the same enthusiasm.
Alan says their relationship really improved when they stopped talking about reality TV and started concentrating on what mattered in their own lives and future goals.
He said things began to shift after he gently told her he didn’t want to always discuss Married at First Sight and other reality shows.
I’ve really connected with this person lately. We started talking about what truly matters to us, our goals, and how we see the world, and it’s amazing how much we have in common. It feels like we’re on the same wavelength and share a lot of the same beliefs.
‘That’s when I started to see there was something more there than just attraction.’
Moving from a fictional TV romance to a real-life relationship hasn’t been easy, and has come with some challenges.
Because Gia and Scott’s wedding is currently being shown on TV in Australia, they’ve had to keep much of their relationship private to avoid revealing plot details.
Gia admits navigating that situation has been emotionally difficult.
It’s been difficult adjusting to this new relationship, which is why I haven’t been doing any appearances on the Stan show or giving many interviews. I can’t keep up the pretense that I’m still with Scott when my heart is with Alan.
I don’t like pretending or being dishonest, and I don’t want to hurt Alan’s feelings, so we’re choosing to concentrate on building our genuine connection.
Alan revealed he made the decision early on not to watch Gia’s storyline unfold on television.
He confessed that he started watching the episode she appeared in, but quickly decided it wasn’t for him.
I didn’t want to see her with someone else and get upset, as I’m a pretty sensitive person.
He explained that the couple has decided to prioritize their relationship and enjoy some privacy while the current season of the show finishes broadcasting.
He explained they were careful not to disrupt the story or upset the actress while she was on the show.
‘Up until recently we’ve mostly just been spending time together at home and laying low.’
In fact, Alan revealed they only recently had their first proper public date.
‘Last night was the first time we’ve actually been out on a date together,’ he said.
We were relaxing and keeping to ourselves before the show finished up.
Although the couple hasn’t publicly discussed their relationship, Alan reveals it’s become very serious privately.
‘It’s very serious now,’ he said.
‘I’ve asked her to be my girlfriend and we’re officially together.’
He added that the pair are already discussing their future and building a life together.
‘She’s moving in and things are progressing in the right way,’ he said.
We feel secure and open with each other daily, and we’re both completely on the same page about what we want in life.
‘It’s definitely not a showmance. It’s a real relationship.’
Gia also talked about her divorce from Scott, explaining the specific moment she knew their relationship was over and couldn’t be fixed.
She explained that she realized she no longer had feelings for Scott after their last dinner together, when he was incredibly rude and disrespectful to her.
I gave it one final shot, but it became clear he wasn’t genuinely interested in me – he just liked the attention and calls.
She says their relationship got worse after they reunited and during all the interviews and appearances they had to do afterward.
She said he was incredibly rude both at the reunion and while they were doing publicity, and that he didn’t even show her basic respect.
According to Gia, the issues between them went far deeper than what viewers saw on screen.
She explained that he didn’t treat her with respect when interacting with other women or his former partners, particularly when it came to talking to them or taking pictures with them.
‘I rarely felt complimented or reassured and I never really felt secure.’
‘I felt used.’
She also said their long-term goals were fundamentally different.
‘He didn’t want kids and I did,’ she said.
‘I wanted to leave the experiment with him because I thought he was there for the right reasons.’
Honestly, it became clear he was only interested in being seen with me, not actually with me. He used our connection for social media attention and ultimately didn’t prioritize a real relationship – he just disappeared when it suited him. It was a tough lesson in recognizing when someone’s motives aren’t genuine.
