I absolutely loved The X-Files! It’s all about these two FBI agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who work on the strangest cases – the ones nobody else wants, usually involving things that seem impossible. Mulder totally believes in everything – aliens, conspiracies, the works – while Scully is the opposite; she needs solid proof before she’ll believe anything. As you watch the show, you start to get this feeling that the government is covering up something huge about alien life. It’s so well done, it really makes you wonder if there’s a message they’re trying to send us!

Talk about aliens never seems to stop, and it’s really heated up lately, especially after comments from both the current and former presidents. When podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen asked President Obama if aliens exist, Obama said, “Yes, they’re real, but I haven’t personally seen them.” He also dismissed the idea that they’re hidden at Area 51, joking that there’d have to be a massive cover-up to keep something like that secret from the President.

Barack Obama seems to share a similar curiosity about aliens as the fictional Fox Mulder. He’s spoken about this topic before – in a 2021 interview, he admitted the government has videos and reports of unexplained aerial phenomena. Following recent discussion and some debate, he reiterated his belief that, given the immense size of the universe, it’s unlikely Earth is the only planet with life.

I’ve noticed something interesting about Donald Trump’s take on UFOs. After Barack Obama spoke about them, Trump actually promised to release all government files on the subject through Truth Social! He admitted he doesn’t know if aliens are real, but he’s willing to look at the evidence – which reminds me a lot of Dana Scully from The X-Files. It’s all a bit surreal, honestly, and makes you feel like we’re living in an episode of the show!

It’s remarkable how relevant the ‘90s show still feels, especially since science fiction often becomes dated quickly – just look at many shows from the ‘70s and ‘80s, which haven’t aged well.

A great way to judge a science fiction TV show is to revisit it two decades after it first aired and see how it holds up against newer shows. The X-Files easily meets this standard, thanks to its creative stories, well-developed characters, striking visuals, excellent acting, and a consistently dark, cynical tone – not to mention its bold portrayal of violence and evil. It’s safe to say that it will likely remain enjoyable for many years to come.

I remember being completely captivated by The X-Files as a child, and revisiting the first season recently, it still has the same effect. At the time, the show felt groundbreaking with its movie-like quality and sleek, modern style. Its intriguing design and focus on questioning authority made it feel like a forward-thinking sci-fi thriller. Even now, it’s remarkably relevant to what’s happening in the world today – a true icon of popular culture.

As a huge X-Files fan, I’m seriously pumped about the new show they’re making! And get this – Ryan Coogler, the guy behind Black Panther and Creed, is producing it. It’s cool, but a little weird, that Chris Carter, the original creator, isn’t involved this time around. Everyone’s been raving about Coogler’s work so far, but this reboot feels like his biggest challenge yet. I’m hoping he can deliver!

I was so touched to hear Ryan Coogler talk about why he took on this project! He shared that his mother was a huge fan of the original The Twilight Zone, and that really resonated with me – what a beautiful reason to revisit such a classic! He also put my mind at ease, promising they’re staying true to what made the show great. Apparently, we can expect both standalone spooky episodes and a bigger, season-long mystery, which sounds absolutely perfect. It’s clear he really understands and respects the legacy of the show, and that makes me incredibly excited for this new version on Hulu.

Look, I’m cautiously optimistic about this new project. We’ve seen a brilliant filmmaker take a similar path before, and it didn’t quite work out. Jordan Peele, after the incredible success of Get Out and Us, rebooted The Twilight Zone, but it fizzled out after two seasons. While it wasn’t bad – a 66% on Rotten Tomatoes is respectable – it just didn’t capture the magic of the original, which remains a classic with a 96% score. So, the big question is: can this new director, like Coogler, live up to the legacy? I’m hoping for the best, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
