The popular horror series Resident Evil is having another successful year with the release of its latest, highly-rated game. After decades of growing popularity, a significant update for Resident Evil Requiem has just been announced.
Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27, 2026, and quickly became a huge success. As the ninth game in the long-running series – which first debuted in 1996 – the developers are keeping the momentum going by delivering what fans have been requesting.
Resident Evil Requiem Is Already Getting Its First Update
It’s now common for big-budget games to launch with problems and require updates. While Resident Evil Requiem was much more polished than many other recent games, there was still potential to make it even better.
Resident Evil Requiem picks up where the previous games left off, but follows a new main character: FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. The story centers on Grace, with help from Leon Kennedy, as she looks into the strange deaths of people who survived the Raccoon City disaster.
Hey fellow Resident Evil players! If you’re on PC and playing Requiem, there’s a 1.4GB patch available right now that should make the game run a lot smoother. It’s version 1.110.000, and heads up – it looks like this update will stop mods from working. But, the good news is it fixes a bunch of bugs, especially those annoying frame drops I was getting with my RTX 40 series card. Apparently, it can boost performance by up to 16%! Definitely worth downloading, even if it means temporarily ditching the mods.
The latest update for Resident Evil Requiem addresses occasional crashes and freezes on some computers. It also enhances the game’s language support by automatically adjusting the size of text boxes, preventing text from being cut off when playing in different languages.
Good news for Steam Deck owners: Resident Evil Requiem is now playable! Despite earlier reports, the game can achieve a smooth 40 frames per second using FSR 3’s Balanced Mode. Resident Evil Requiem is receiving excellent reviews and is considered a strong addition to the series, regardless of how you choose to play.
This update is probably just the beginning for RE9. Capcom seems to have exciting plans for the future of Resident Evil, which is great news for fans.
You can now play Resident Evil Requiem on PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
