Quentin Tarantino to bring ‘classic British trouser dropping’ farce to the West End

After film director Quentin Tarantino announced last summer he planned to stage a play in London’s West End, speculation has been building about what the production will be.

Is this a new take on one of his movies, perhaps something like Reservoir Dogs or Kill Bill? Could it possibly be – and this is a big thought – a musical adaptation of Pulp Fiction?

In a podcast last August, he stated that the play was finished and his next project. He planned to begin working on it in January, estimating it would take between a year and a half and two years to complete.

I can finally reveal what ‘it’ is.

It’s surprisingly true that Tarantino has created a completely original comedy in the style of classic British farces – think fast-paced humor with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and plenty of slapstick, much like the plays of Brian Rix or Ray Cooney.

The project is expected to be ready around 2027, though there’s a small chance it could arrive by late 2026. A reliable source told me it’s entirely original – not based on any of his previous films – and is a comedy in the style of classic British farces like ‘Noises Off’.

He’s currently exploring various theaters and performance spaces as he plans how to stage the production.

This seems crucial for the project, and there’s talk that one scene will feature an actor being lowered in on a wire.

Meanwhile, Tarantino is negotiating with big Hollywood stars to appear in the show.

Since Martin Scorsese typically works with actors who aren’t known for stage work – like Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt – it’ll be interesting to see what kind of cast he assembles this time.

He might choose someone like Bradley Cooper, who starred in a stage production of The Elephant Man about ten years ago.

Quentin Tarantino, currently residing in Israel with his wife Daniella Pick, recently visited London and attended a screening of the classic film High Noon in the West End back in February.
