Stacey Solomon’s daughters dress up as adorable versions of Matilda and Red Riding Hood while Lucy Mecklenburgh’s son Roman channels Harry Potter as stars celebrate World Book Day

Stacey Solomon and Lucy Mecklenburgh joined many other parents in celebrating World Book Day on Thursday, as their children dressed up as characters from beloved books.

Celebrities shared photos on Instagram of their children dressed up as characters from their favorite books as they went to school.

Stacey shared photos of her daughters, Rose, four, and Belle, three, who both dressed up as characters from classic stories – Rose as Matilda and Belle as Little Red Riding Hood.

She shared that her daughters, Red Riding Hood and Matilda, are starting nursery school. Her son, Rex, is excited for World Book Day tomorrow and has asked her to create a Diary of a Wimpy Kid costume for him, so she’s hoping for a successful day of crafting!

Lucy followed up by posting adorable photos of her children: six-year-old Roman dressed as Harry Potter, and three-year-old Lilah as Angelina Ballerina.

Kerry Katona posted a picture of her 10-year-old daughter, Dylan-Jorge, who dressed as a Minion for World Book Day.

Louise Thompson shared a heartwarming story about a young fan named Katie, who has a stoma just like her. Katie was so inspired by Thompson’s memoir, Lucky, that she dressed up as her for World Book Day.

She shared a picture of her outfit on Instagram with a caption expressing her overwhelming joy. She explained that when she saw a video and photos of a young girl named Katie dressing up as her for World Book Day, she was so touched she almost fainted and considered retiring – feeling her career had reached its peak. She said she couldn’t have felt prouder.

I hesitated to share this because it’s quite personal, but Katie and her mother are amazing, and she’s a fantastic champion for young people – and even those of us who are older! – dealing with stoma bags. Plus, it’s World Book Day, and it seemed a bit strange not to.

It’s incredibly surreal and honestly a little unsettling to see someone pretending to be me and acknowledging me as the writer, it really makes me feel like a fraud, but it’s also amazing.

Katie’s mom recently sent me a video of her reading my book, ‘Lucky,’ and I’ve been sharing it with my family and rewatching it in amazement ever since.

Katie has a stoma and has faced a lot of challenges, including many hospital visits and difficult talks, at a young age. She’s dealt with more than most people experience in a lifetime.

Hearing her read parts about some of my most difficult times was more emotionally heavy than I expected. When I wrote ‘Lucky,’ I didn’t think about who might read it, or when they would. I just hoped it would reach someone who needed it and offer them comfort.

It’s incredibly touching that my daughter chose to dress up as me for World Book Day – it’s a moment I’ll always cherish. I’m excited to share the photo with my son when he’s older and understands. He’s going as Paddington Bear tomorrow, which isn’t a surprise! I expect lots of kids will be dressing up as beloved characters from famous children’s books.

Katie is truly remarkable and isn’t afraid to be herself. She’s already lived through so much, and that experience will undoubtedly guide her well in the years to come. I’m grateful to both her and her mother for sharing her story with me.

Just by living your lives openly, you’re making a real difference and helping others. I recently spoke with someone at the Houses of Parliament who’d had stoma surgery, and it reminded me how common these procedures are. We should all recognize each other as strong and resilient individuals.

I loved seeing the Heart Breakfast crew celebrate World Book Day! They all dressed up as characters from that amazing Jolly Holiday scene in Mary Poppins – it was such a fun tribute to the books!

Amanda Holden channeled Mary Poppins, wearing a white dress with a red sash, a delicate lace hat, and carrying an umbrella.

Ashley Roberts dressed up as a fluffy penguin, and Jamie Theakston went as Bert, complete with a pinstriped blazer, hat, and bow tie.

Lottie Tomlinson posted an adorable picture of her son, Lucky, in a Paddington Bear costume. Meanwhile, Emily Proudlock, wife of Made In Chelsea’s Oliver Proudlock, shared a photo of their daughter Bonnie dressed as a chef.
