The King’s Choice Uncharted Water event lets you experience medieval colonial trade. You’ll buy goods at a low price in one town and then transport them to another town to sell for a profit. Your alliance’s combined earnings from these trades determine your ranking on the event leaderboard. Unlike other events, Uncharted Water is only for alliances. It’s also a cross-server event, offering free-to-play players a good opportunity to earn the prestigious Duke title by becoming the top-performing alliance.
This article highlights two key strategies to help you make smart choices during the event. King’s Choice Uncharted Water Event Overview
You can participate in this event in one of two ways: either as a Merchant, buying low and selling high, or as a Pirate, attacking other ships and taking their loot.
The Map
To succeed in the Uncharted Waters event, it’s important to learn the map. It shows a historical world with 40 important ancient ports. Traveling between these ports costs 1 Supply Barrel each. At each port, you can trade goods – buying items you need and selling what you have. Look for a small icon next to each port to find where a special item is sold at a discounted price.
Voyage Wealth and Initial Coins
Okay, so in this event, Voyager Wealth is everything. Seriously, it’s what decides where you end up on the leaderboard. For our alliance, they’re adding up all our Voyager Wealth to see how we rank. And my Voyager Wealth? It comes from two things: how many Voyager Coins I’ve collected, and the value of all the cargo I’m carrying on my ship. Gotta keep both of those numbers high!
The initial voyage coin is decided based on your lord title or rank. Follow the table
| Title | Coins |
|---|---|
| No Rank | 20,000 |
| Baron | 21,000 |
| Earl | 24,000 |
| Duke | 28,000 |
Supply Barrels
Traveling between cities or raiding another ship uses 1 supply barrel. You begin with 6 barrels, which slowly refill – one every 30 minutes – up to a maximum of 10. You can also buy more barrels with gold, diamonds, or with real money.
Upgrading The Ship
You can upgrade five different parts of your ship, and each upgrade will help you during the event in a unique way. Focus your upgrades based on how you want to play – trying to improve everything equally isn’t effective.
Once you’ve collected 5 supply barrels, you’ll receive a free ship upgrade – you can choose from three different options. You can also spend 100 gold to increase your ship’s level by one. Ships can be upgraded to a maximum level of 70, and skills can be improved to a maximum of 20.
Ships Skills
| Ship Skills | Description |
|---|---|
| Capasity Expansion | Increases loot after winning a battle – needed to maximise the rewards from a plundering strategy. |
| Profit % | Increased profit from selling goods – a nice little extra for a trading strategy. |
| Battle Lv | Increases your chances of winning a battle – needed for plundering and defending against attacks. |
| Loot Lv | Increases loot after winning a battle – needed to maximize the rewards from a plundering strategy. |
| Intel Lv | Reduces the gold cost of refreshing nearby targets – useful for plundering strategy. |
Selection of Strategy
Okay, so I’ve been figuring out the best way to play, and here’s what I’ve learned. If I go for a Merchant build, I really need to concentrate on boosting how much stuff I can carry and maximizing my profits, while still keeping my Battle Level decent. But if I want to be a Pirate, it’s all about leveling up my Battle, Loot, and Intel stats. Basically, Merchants focus on trade, Pirates focus on fighting and raiding!
The Merchant
The best way to increase your wealth in Voyager is by trading goods. It’s simple: buy items when they’re cheap at one port and sell them for a profit at another. Look for goods priced below 95% at each port – these are usually the best deals. Then, travel to a different port where you can sell that same item for a higher price, ideally around 107% or more.
Each port focuses on selling a specific item at a lower price than usual. However, each port only has a limited amount of that item. If it’s sold out, you’ll have to buy the next cheapest item available. Remember that traveling between ports costs 1 Supply Barrel each time.
Pro Tips
- If you have enough gold, then upgrade your ship 10 levels (profit%, Capacity, Battle level) at the start of the event using 1000 gold coins. It will give you an edge from the beginning of the event
- Try to play as soon as the stock resets, else the cheapest goods will be sold out and you won’t be able to make maximum profit from trade.
- If you want to buy supply chest or if you have some in your bag, try to use them on day 1 and as early as possible.
The Pirate
If you enjoy player-versus-player combat and want to potentially earn a lot of in-game wealth (though it does come with some risk), piracy is a good option. It lets you attack other players and take their resources.
When you win a battle, you’ll earn Voyager Coins and potentially take some items from your opponent. Each attack uses one Supply Barrel, and improving your ship’s Battle Level will increase your odds of winning.
To start raiding other players, use the “Nearby Players” feature to see a list of five potential targets. This list updates automatically every three hours, along with the available ports. If you want to see a new list immediately, you can refresh it for 120 Gold – and you can do this as often as you like. You can also reduce the cost of refreshing by upgrading your “Intel Level”.
I love that you can hunt down specific players, but it does take War Flags to do it. You really have to think about who you’re going after though, because you can only attack each player once every hour!
Pro Tips
- At the start of the event, you can loot up to 2% of a target’s Voyager Coins, so it’s worth comparing whether plundering offers better returns than simple trading. You can further increase your loot by upgrading your ship’s Loot skill.
- Use your barrels nearing the end of each refresh. (Let other players gather some coins)
- Ideally, go after players with high Wealth and fewer Goods, as this combination offers the best payoff for a successful plunder.
- Use your supply chests on day 3, as this strategy works best nearing the end of the event or on day 3
Tips to get the Title
In King’s Choice: Uncharted Waters, you’ll compete with players across all servers, earning rewards based on how well you do individually and how your alliance performs as a team. The best rewards come from strong alliance rankings, so working together is key. Ultimately, the game is about building up as much wealth as you can.
