Stephen Amell’s New Baywatch Reboot Casts Major Buchannon Role

Fox’s new version of the classic show Baywatch has added another actor to its cast, who will star alongside Stephen Amell.

The former Arrow actor will play Hobie Buchannon in a new 12-episode series. Hobie was previously portrayed by Peter Phelps and Brandon Call in the original Baywatch, which ran for 11 seasons and was the son of Mitch Buchannon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jessica Belkin will play Charlie Vale, the biological daughter of Hobie, on the upcoming Baywatch series.

Hobie and Charlie are strangers, but Charlie is about to make a big change: she’s moving from Galveston, Texas, to work with her father as a lifeguard – just like on Baywatch. This new job will transform her life. Charlie is known for being bold, unafraid, and full of energy, but she soon discovers she still has a lot to learn.

Stephen Amell was the first actor to join the cast of the new Baywatch series. He’s widely recognized for his role as Oliver Queen, also known as Green Arrow, in Arrow and other superhero shows on The CW, often referred to as the Arrowverse. More recently, Amell has appeared in Heels, Suits LA, and The Borderline.

The original Baywatch focused on lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, played by David Hasselhoff. This new series will follow Mitch’s son, Hobie, who has now become a lifeguard captain – just like his father was.

Hobie used to struggle with personal issues and often clashed with Mitch. Now, as a dad, he’s facing new challenges with his daughter’s impulsive actions.

David Chokachi, known for his role as Cody Madison in the original Baywatch, is reuniting with Pamela Anderson and Yasmine Bleeth for the show’s reboot. Following Baywatch, Chokachi continued acting, appearing in shows and films like Suddenly Susan, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Beyond the Break, and Soul Surfer.

Matt Nix, the creator of Burn Notice, is leading the revival of Baywatch. He’s working alongside executive producers Michael Berk, McG, Doug Schwartz, Greg Bonann, Mike Horowitz, and Dante Di Loreto. McG is likely to direct the first episode, with filming scheduled to begin in the spring at Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Belkin has been a guest star on several television shows, including The Neighbors, American Horror Story, Just Add Magic, Modern Family, Pretty Little Liars, The Orville, and The Hunting Wives. Her next project is a recurring role as Madison in the Prime Video series Elle, a prequel to Legally Blonde, which will debut on July 1, 2026.

As a big TV fan, I just heard that Belkin, who’s behind the new Baywatch movie, already has another show planned for the 2026-2027 season. It sounds like they’re staying busy!
