Scott Snyder Addresses The Ending Of DC’s Absolute Universe

With ‘Absolute Universe’ constantly expanding and improving, its creator, Scott Snyder, is already thinking about how the story might eventually conclude. Fortunately for readers, he has shared some positive news about the future.

A fan recently asked writer Scott Snyder if the ‘Absolute’ storyline had a planned conclusion, noting that it’s better to tell a complete story than to prolong plots for financial gain. Snyder responded directly, stating that there are currently no plans to end the ‘Absolute’ series.

DC’s Absolute Universe is Getting Bigger & Better in 2026

DC’s Absolute Universe is a new shared world that puts a fresh spin on classic heroes. It began in 2024 as part of DC’s All In initiative, starting with the continuing stories of Absolute Batman and Absolute Superman.

Okay, so I’m super hyped because the Absolute Universe is getting even bigger! DC just announced they’re doing a big crossover event, and it sounds amazing – Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman’s stories are all going to collide. They haven’t given us a release date yet, but Chris Conroy from DC Comics said we can expect it later this year. I’m already counting down the days!

A new comic book crossover might seem intimidating, but it’s been created to be accessible to all fans, even those who haven’t followed every issue. According to writer James Conroy, this large-scale story will connect everything in a way that readers will truly love. He says, “We’re going to do some amazing things with this event!”

New Limited-Run DC Absolute Universe Titles Are Also on the Way

Although Snyder indicated that the numerous series within the Absolute Universe, like the new Absolute Flash, don’t have a set conclusion, not every story will be indefinite. Several shorter, limited series are already planned for release in 2026.

So, that comic series that came out in March 2025 is wrapping up with issue #12 later this year. The writer, Deniz Camp, actually told fans they made the right call ending it now. They were worried if they kept going, the quality would slip and it wouldn’t be as good. They really feel like every issue is special right now and didn’t want to risk ruining that, which is cool – it shows DC is prioritizing a strong finish over just dragging things out.

Later this year, Absolute Martian Manhunter will be expanded with two new limited series: Absolute Green Arrow and Absolute Catwoman. Absolute Green Arrow is scheduled for release in May, followed by Absolute Catwoman in June, with each series consisting of six issues.

We’ll be sharing more information about Absolute Universe’s upcoming releases, including details on their big crossover event, in the next few months.
