DC Next Level is bringing significant changes to the DC Comics universe. A major development involves the New Titans, a team forming from the existing Titans series. While four new members have already been announced, a recent preview hints that two transgender superheroes will also be joining this group of young heroes.
The puzzle started in December 2025 with a sneak peek at the cover of New Titans #33. This issue continued the numbering from an earlier Titans series, which had finished with issue #32 in February 2026. The original cover featured four figures in shadow, only showing their symbols and a few details.
The new team, called the New Titans, will include Superman (Jon Kent), Wonder Girl (Yara Flor), Batgirl (Stephanie Brown, also known as The Spoiler), and Terra. The first three are well-known young heroes with a strong fanbase, while Terra is a former villain trying to change her ways. Another image hints that two more DC heroes will be joining the team, and these heroes would notably be the first transgender superheroes to ever be part of the Titans.
Who are the two New Titans?
The image was a promotional piece for DC’s ‘Next Level’ campaign, appearing at the end of ‘DC K.O.’ issue #5. It’s a collage of various superheroes and hints at future story arcs. Notably, the section showcasing the New Titans includes Dreamer and Galaxy, who aren’t actually part of the team’s new recruits.
Dreamer first appeared in the TV show Supergirl and later joined the main DC comic book universe in 2021 with Superman: Son of Kal-El #13. As a half-human, half-Naltorian, she has typical Naltorian psychic abilities, including seeing the future, projecting her spirit outside her body, firing energy blasts with her mind, and using divination. She was a key character in the 2024 Absolute Power storyline, but hasn’t appeared in comics since the 2025 Secret Six series.
Galaxy was originally developed for DC’s young adult graphic novels, but later became a supporting character in the 2024 Hawkgirl miniseries. Her real name is Taelyr Ilextrix-spiir Biarxiiai, and she’s an alien princess hiding her identity as a human boy to escape those hunting her family. She has the ability to fly and control various forms of energy, like heat, gravity, and electricity.
Galaxy and Dreamer have quickly become popular characters with young comic fans. Adding them to the New Titans series could be a great way for DC to attract those readers to their monthly comics. However, current previews of the New Titans don’t suggest when or if these two transgender heroes will join the team.
