I’m really excited to hear that Matt Charman, the writer behind the awesome thriller Hostage (and an Oscar nominee!), is creating a new series for Prime Video UK! Variety is reporting it’s a really intense, emotionally driven crime drama, and they’re saying it’s going to be a totally new and interesting spin on the classic British police procedural. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with!
The upcoming series, titled Dirty, follows Eva Bennett, a trainee detective who returns to Manchester to work on a new case. The catch? Her estranged mother, the highly respected Detective Chief Inspector Lois Mercer, is leading the investigation. The series will explore their difficult relationship as old secrets come to light.
According to series creator and writer Charman, the two women are compelling because of their strength and unpredictability. She believes they’re capable of anything, making every scene incredibly dynamic and exciting.

Charman explained that Clemens and her team at Amazon immediately connected with the show’s mix of compelling characters and fast-paced storyline, and expressed excitement about revealing the project to audiences.
Clemens described the project as truly remarkable, highlighting its focus on two strong female leads. He said it offers the kind of compelling, character-focused stories that Global Prime Video viewers enjoy, and they’re excited to release it internationally.
Filming for the movie Dirty is scheduled to start in the UK this September. The filmmakers haven’t announced who will be starring in it yet.
This week, there’s exciting news for TV fans: Danny Brocklehurst, who’s worked with Harlan Coben on shows like Fool Me Once and Run Away, is developing a new heist-themed drama for Disney+. According to Deadline, the show promises plenty of twists and turns.
