The new Jack Ryan movie on Prime Video is arriving sooner than expected, thanks to one of the actors who let slip the release timeframe before the official announcement. The series, which ran from 2018 to 2023, starred John Krasinski (known from The Office) as a CIA operative. The show concluded with a corrupt senator being revealed and Elizabeth Wright taking her rightful position as director.
We’re not sure what the next movie will be about, but we’ll find out soon – it’s coming out in just a few months.
Wendell Pierce, the actor who plays James Greer in the movie, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it will be released in May.
So, it’s not just this game that the actor’s involved with! He’s also going to be on stage playing Othello with the Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC this May and June, and then the new season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan comes out on June 12th – I’m definitely setting a reminder for that!
Even before season four came out, John Krasinski revealed that he and the show’s team had already planned to end the series while it was still at its peak.

We really wanted to deliver the excitement and action fans expect, but for me, the most important thing was to give these characters and their relationships a satisfying conclusion. We wanted the audience to feel like they were saying goodbye along with them, too, he explained to The Wrap.

In 2023, Pierce told Digital Spy he was interested in a spin-off series centered around his character, saying, “I would love to do James Greer, the series.”

Jack Ryan is available to stream now on Prime Video. The movie is seemingly coming in May.
