Christina Applegate’s blistering takedown of ‘gross’ Harvey Weinstein elicits shock response from the disgraced film producer

Christina Applegate sharply criticized Harvey Weinstein, and the disgraced film producer unexpectedly responded.

Christina Applegate, the 54-year-old actress from Dead to Me, says she once had a face-to-face encounter with Harvey Weinstein at a Hollywood party. Weinstein is currently in prison, serving a 16-year sentence for rape.

In her memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, she recounts confronting Harvey Weinstein after he made a sexually suggestive comment about a woman, telling him he was ‘gross.’ She also notes he seemed genuinely intimidated by her reaction.

The former film executive surprised many with his gracious response, calling Applegate a talented actress and an influential figure in Hollywood in a statement to TMZ.

A spokesperson for Weinstein said they were pleased she was able to share her experience and thoughts directly with the public.

Weinstein also said he didn’t remember the incident, claiming, ‘I have no memory of meeting Christina Applegate or having that discussion.’

The Daily Mail has reached out toĀ Applegate’s representative for comment.Ā

In her book, Applegate recounted an incident at a Miramax party where she overheard Harvey Weinstein making inappropriate comments about a woman walking by. She immediately reacted, telling him, “Oh, come on, man. That’s just gross.”

She continued, explaining that Weinstein simply stared at her, and she sensed he was annoyed by her tone.

It wasn’t just attraction, though. I could feel him realizing I wasn’t someone to mess with, like he suddenly understood I meant business. And honestly? He was right to be a little scared. I absolutely didn’t play games, and I wasn’t about to start.

I remember when Harvey Weinstein was one of the biggest names in Hollywood. But everything changed in 2017 when the media started reporting on the awful things he’d allegedly done. Suddenly, he wasn’t known for his movies anymore, but as someone who represented sexual misconduct – it was a shocking and devastating fall from grace.

Around 60 women shared disturbing stories about the producer, and he was found guilty of multiple sex crimes in New York and California.

Harvey Weinstein is currently in prison serving a 16-year sentence related to a rape conviction in California. He is also scheduled to face another trial in Manhattan later this year concerning a remaining rape charge from his 2025 New York retrial.

Weinstein is scheduled to appear in court on March 4 for a status hearing on that third trial.Ā

He’s currently facing several serious health challenges, including cancer, diabetes, a narrowing of his spinal canal, and a potential issue with his immune system.

In her memoir, Applegate also described a long-term relationship where she experienced years of physical and emotional abuse. She stated that her partner controlled aspects of her life, including her clothing and diet.

Patricia Arquette, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, remembered her mother strongly urging her to distance herself from her ex-husband.

Her TV dad, Ed O’Neill – famous for playing Al Bundy on Married… with Children – disliked her boyfriend so much that she worried he’d get physical.

The star had an abortion after becoming pregnant by the unnamed boyfriend in April 1991.

She ended their relationship after a violent argument where he threw a lighter at her and forcibly poured tequila into her mouth.

She went on to marry actor Johnathon Schaech in 2001, but they divorced in 2007.

Applegate then wed Dutch bassist Martyn LeNoble in 2013. They are parents to daughter Sadie, 15.

Oh my gosh, I was devastated reading Christina Applegate’s memoir! She revealed she battled body dysmorphia and anorexia while filming ‘Married… With Children,’ which is just… heartbreaking. Can you imagine? She barely ate while being Kelly Bundy, for all eleven seasons! It makes you look at the show completely differently, knowing what she was going through. It’s so brave of her to share, and honestly, it just makes me admire her even more. I’ve been a fan forever, and this just adds another layer of respect. It’s just…wow.

The actress stated that her difficulties increased while she was portraying the role of a rebellious and sexually active teenager.

In a passage from her memoir, as reported by Vulture, she explained that playing the character led to unhealthy habits, specifically needing to be very thin.

I pictured exactly what I wanted her to wear – clothes so tight they’d reveal even the smallest weight change, like if she’d eaten a single grape. Achieving that vision meant intensifying my own struggle with an eating disorder.

The show aired from 1987 until 1997, when Applegate was in her teens and early twenties.

The actress emphasized she holds no one responsible for what happened, including her fellow cast and crew. She also clarified that she isn’t blaming anyone for the effect the role had on her mental health.

She acknowledged that being looked at was always going to be part of the job, but she specifically wanted to wear the outfits her character, Kelly Bundy, was known for.
