I was so excited to see that Prime Video just added Swimming with Men! It’s a really charming movie from 2018 about an accountant who decides to join a synchronized swimming team… made up entirely of guys! It’s a feel-good comedy-drama that’s perfect if you need a little pick-me-up.
Rob Brydon, known for his role in Gavin & Stacey, plays Eric, a man experiencing a mid-life crisis who unexpectedly joins a synchronized swimming team.
At first, the unlikely team keeps to themselves, hiding their personal lives. But as they work together, they begin to open up and become more comfortable with who they are, even embracing their imperfections.
As they begin a surprising trip to Milan for the World Championship, will they be able to coordinate their lives and get into a rhythm?
Alongside Brydon, the film Swimming with Men also stars Daniel Mays, known from Line of Duty and The Thursday Murder Club, and Rupert Graves, who appeared in Sherlock.

The film also features performances by Jane Horrocks, Jim Carter, Charlotte Riley, and Nathaniel Parker. Oliver Parker (known for directing Dad’s Army and Funny Woman) directed the movie, and the script was written by Aschlin Ditta, who drew inspiration from the 2010 Swedish documentary Men Who Swim.
IMDB viewers loved this film, saying it was uplifting, touching, and genuinely funny.
One viewer called the movie “absolutely delightful,” recommending it as a great feel-good choice, particularly for middle-aged audiences.
This is a really enjoyable film! It’s well-directed, packed with famous actors, and features excellent performances. It’s a lighthearted and feel-good movie, so just relax and enjoy it.

One viewer admitted they weren’t expecting much from the movie, given the title and familiar plot. However, they were surprised to find themselves crying throughout, either from laughter or because the film was deeply touching.
Some viewers drew parallels between the film and the British classic The Full Monty, noting its similar themes of men grappling with loneliness and the value of strong friendships.
One viewer jokingly compared it to “The Full Monty” but with a water-based theme, while another said it reminded them of the 1997 film.
Swimming with Men is available to watch now on Prime Video.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour 100-page tribute to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
