Aurora Gaming PH defeated SRG, earning a spot in the Grand Finals of the M7 World Championship Knockout Stage on Day 3.
In the M7 World Championship Upper Bracket Semifinal, Malaysian powerhouse Selangor Red Giants (SRG) will face Aurora Gaming PH (RORA), a team eager to make their mark. The winner of this crucial match will automatically advance to the Grand Finals, while the losing team will have another chance to reach the finals through the Lower Bracket.
Here’s a quick review of the match between SRG and Aurora Gaming PH from Day 3 of the M7 World Championship Knockout Stage.
SRG vs Aurora Gaming PH: M7 Knockout Stage Day 3 Recap
Game 1
The first game started evenly, with both teams battling back and forth for the first eight minutes. Around the eleven-minute mark, Aurora Gaming PH began to take control thanks to strong plays from Jan “Domengkite” Delmundo.
SRG tried to turn the game around by starting team fights, but they kept making mistakes, resulting in a lot of players dying. This allowed Aurora to gain a significant 5,000 gold advantage by 13 minutes. Things briefly looked up for SRG during a fight over the 14-minute Lord, when Aurora made errors and lost three players, even though they did manage to take the Lord. This gave SRG a chance to recover and reorganize.
The opportunity didn’t last long, though. Aurora quickly recovered, reorganized, and then took control to win the first game of the series.
Game 2
SRG quickly turned the tables in Game 2, getting four kills within the first four minutes and taking a significant 3,000 gold lead over Aurora Gaming PH. Aurora’s Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto, playing Fanny, had trouble finding opportunities as SRG repeatedly entered his jungle and dominated the map’s resources.
Aurora lost key advantages, which put them at a disadvantage in terms of damage and team fights. This pressure continued into the middle of the game, forcing Demonkite to focus on slowly taking towers while SRG systematically destroyed Aurora’s defenses.
Man, it was tough to watch, but Aurora just cracked under the pressure and SRG finally managed to win that game, tying up the series. It was a real nail-biter!
Game 3
Okay, so in Game 3, SRG immediately went after Domengkite’s Granger – they were all over him! I felt like they were pressuring him everywhere on the map. Their Zetian player, Stormie, was a beast in team fights, and honestly, it made it super tough for Aurora to even try and take anything. Around the 7-minute mark, SRG just straight-up aced us and took Turtle, giving them total control of the map. It was rough.
SRG quickly gained a significant advantage, building a 6,000 gold lead by 13 minutes, leaving Aurora struggling to catch up. Aurora Gaming PH ultimately fell apart around the 17-minute mark, and SRG secured a clear victory with a powerful final push down the lanes.
Game 4
SRG started Game 4 with a strong, attacking strategy, quickly taking Demonkite’s orange buff and putting pressure on Aurora’s jungle. This early aggression caused the PH team to fall behind, with SRG leading 3-0 in kills within the first three minutes. However, Aurora gradually recovered by winning small team fights, largely thanks to Granger, played by Domengkite.
The game changed at 12 minutes when Demonkite started taking jungle areas that belonged to Sekys’s Yi Sun-Shin. Aurora then used this advantage to secure a powerful objective and push their attack into SRG’s mid lane, revealing SRG’s base. Another objective secured at 17 minutes put Aurora in a strong position to end the game, but SRG briefly resisted. Yums used his Chou to bravely initiate fights, sacrificing himself to create space and relieve some pressure.
Okay, so we almost had a comeback going, but Aurora Gaming PH just shut that down fast. They completely crushed us in the next fight around Lord, taking out four of my teammates before just steamrolling through to win Game 4. It was rough, honestly.
Game 5
During the crucial fifth game, Aurora chose Akai to pair with Edward Dapadap’s Lapu-Lapu, creating a strong front line that SRG found difficult to overcome. The game progressed slowly, as SRG played carefully to prevent giving up easy advantages.
Even though the game was moving slowly, Aurora gradually built up a large advantage, gaining almost 10,000 gold by 14 minutes in. SRG, despite being behind in resources, played strong defensively and won several team fights, keeping the game going past the 20-minute mark.
Aurora successfully took an Evolved Lord, but couldn’t capitalize with a clear advantage or eliminate any opponents. Sadly for SRG, a critical mistake during the 23-minute Lord battle shattered their defenses, allowing Aurora Gaming PH to seize control, finish the series, and earn a spot in the Grand Finals of the M7 World Championship Knockout Stage.
