Lizzie McGuire star Robert Carradine’s body is released to family days after his tragic death at 71

Following his death last week at age 71, Robert Carradine’s remains have been returned to his family.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially confirmed that the actor died by suicide on February 23rd, after being hospitalized. The method was hanging.

Actor Robert Carradine, from a famous acting family that included his brother Keith and half-brother David, was most recognized for his roles on the Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire and in the Revenge of the Nerds movies.

David Carradine had struggled with bipolar disorder for twenty years, and his family confirmed to Deadline that he died by suicide.

Bobby Carradine brought joy and positivity to those around him, even during difficult times. His family shared that he bravely fought Bipolar Disorder for almost twenty years.

In a statement to Deadline, Keith shared that his family wants everyone to know Robert fought bravely against bipolar disorder for the last twenty years.

Keith shared that he wants people to understand what happened, and he feels no embarrassment about it. He explained that his loved one battled an illness, and he wants to honor both the fight and the person’s kind heart.

Keith described the actor as incredibly talented and said he would be deeply missed. He found comfort in remembering his brother’s humor, wisdom, and unwavering acceptance of others, adding, ‘That’s who my baby brother was.’

Robert’s daughter, Ever Carradine, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram remembering her father and encouraging his fans to honor him by being kind to others.

Ever shared the news of her father’s passing, telling Robert and Susan Snyder, ‘He was a truly kind and loving person.’ She added that in a world often marked by disagreement, we could all learn from his example by opening our hearts to love and sharing it with others.

I have so many stories and remembering my dad, Bobby Carradine, is bringing everything back to me. If you see me, please ask about him – he was a huge influence on my life.

Ever ended the emotional statement in saying, ‘Rest easy, dad. I love you the most.’  

Hilary Duff, who worked with David Carradine on ‘Lizzie McGuire,’ shared on Instagram that she was deeply saddened by his death, saying it was difficult to accept the loss of a friend.

The McGuire family was incredibly welcoming, and I always felt loved and supported by my TV parents. I’ll always cherish that, and I’m heartbroken to hear about Bobby’s struggles.

Duff wrapped up in saying, ‘My heart aches for him, his family, and everyone who loved him.’

Robert was born March 24, 1954 in Los Angeles into the Carradine show business family.

He came from a family of actors: his parents were John Carradine and Sonia Sorel. He had three brothers – Christopher Carradine, a Disney Imagineer, and actors Keith and David Carradine. David Carradine passed away in June 2009 at the age of 72.

David died on June 4, 2009, in his Bangkok hotel room. Investigators determined he died from asphyxiation.

Dr. Michael Baden, the medical examiner who performed an independent autopsy, stated that David’s death wasn’t due to natural causes or suicide. The way he was bound suggested an accidental death.

Carradine was well-known for playing Sam McGuire in the TV series, appearing in 65 episodes between 2001 and 2004. He also appeared in the 2003 movie based on the same popular story, starring Duff in the lead role.

He became well-known for playing Lewis Skolnick in the 1984 comedy film Revenge of the Nerds, alongside actors like Anthony Edwards, Curtis Armstrong, and Timothy Busfield.

He returned to play the same characters in several follow-up movies and TV films, including ‘Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise’ (1987), ‘Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation’ (1992), and ‘Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love’ (1994).

In the 1980 film The Long Riders, Robert acted with his brothers David and Keith, alongside members of well-known acting families like the Quaids, Guests, and Keachs.
