And I’m looking at my boyfriend and thinking, ‘Wait a minute… he’s twenty?!’ It was just… a lot to process, honestly. It really messed with my head at the time.
The actress, known from her time on Disney Channel, immediately asked, “Why was I dating someone so much older?”
As a lifestyle expert, I often hear from young people struggling to cope with difficult situations, and this story really resonated with me. They were desperately searching for healthy ways to express their feelings and find support, but felt completely alone in their age group – like there was nowhere to turn for relatable guidance.
Lovato concluded, ‘It’s hard for people our age to truly get it. But looking back, especially when I hit 30, I realized things weren’t right.’

Palmer explained that the situation was hard for her because, at 15, she thought it was normal. She was taking on more mature responsibilities and believed her older boyfriend fit with that part of her life.

It’s like those qualities amplify the connection – it just feels right when someone gets it.
She then recalled her past track 29 – which is found on her 2022 album Holy Fvck.
I even wrote a song inspired by that experience—it’s called ’29.’ I think a lot of people will find it relatable.
