Hilary Duff reveals the A-list star who gave her family shelter during LA wildfires

Hilary Duff shared that her family of six was able to stay at a famous celebrity’s house for a short time after they had to leave their own Beverly Hills home due to the recent wildfires. They were forced to evacuate their $3.85 million, five-bedroom house because of the fires.

Between January 7th and 31st, 2025, Southern California experienced 14 wildfires that tragically resulted in 440 deaths. The fires also forced more than 200,000 people to leave their homes and destroyed over 18,000 buildings.

The recent fire displaced many well-known celebrities, including Mel Gibson, Jeff Bridges, Anna Faris, Cary Elwes, Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Eugene Levy, Steve Guttenberg, Matt Damon, Billy Crystal, Jhené Aiko, Tyra Banks, Harvey Guillén, Candy Spelling, and Milo Ventimiglia. Couples Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, and Ed Harris and Amy Madigan, also lost their homes.

Jonathan Rinderknecht, a former Uber driver and the only person arrested in connection with the wildfires, will go on trial in federal court on April 21st. He faces three charges related to starting the Lachman Fire, which later merged with the Palisades Fire.

Cameron Diaz and her husband, Benji Madden, generously opened their Beverly Crest home – a large, seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion worth $16.5 million – to Duff. The couple has been married for 11 years.

Former Disney Channel star, 38, shared on The Drew Barrymore Show that their friend Cam kindly allowed their whole family to stay at Cam’s house.

There were three dogs and chickens with us, and Matt and I were feeling incredibly stressed. We’d just been evicted and fires were breaking out all around.

Cameron Diaz, 53, and Benji Madden, 46, who share two children – six-year-old Raddix and nearly two-year-old Cardinal – are said to also own a $12.67 million home in Montecito and a $9.5 million condo in Chelsea.

‘They’re the best people,’ the 51-year-old host gushed.

Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz both appeared alongside Lucy Liu in the 2000 action film Charlie’s Angels and its 2003 sequel, Full Throttle. Together, the two movies earned over $523 million worldwide.

During a visit to Avaline Wine co-founder Cameron Diaz’s house, a disagreement between her and her husband, Matthew Koma, escalated to the point where she threw his phone into a thorny bush.

She remembered it was a bougainvillea, and she felt really proud because the plant has thorns and was difficult to handle.

‘I was like, “Go fishing off the balcony.”‘

The couple, who have been married for six years, are parents to three young daughters: seven-year-old Banks, four-year-old Mae, and Townes, who is 21 months old.

Hillary Duff is also a mom to 13-year-old Luca Comrie, born March 20, 2007, from her marriage to former hockey player Mike Comrie. The couple divorced in 2016 after three years of marriage.

She first connected with the 38-year-old music producer in 2013 while working on her fifth album, ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out.’ At the time, she was still with her original spouse, but they started dating in 2017.

In 2024, Hilary Duff shared on The Drew Barrymore Show that she is expecting her last child.

‘That’s it!’ the Mature songstress confirmed.

He had a vasectomy. I sometimes refer to it as getting him ‘fixed,’ similar to how it’s done with a dog. This happened before our baby was born.

Duff recently worked with Koma, whose real name is Bair, on her sixth studio album, ‘Luck… or Something.’ The album is currently number three on the Billboard 200 chart for the week of March 7th.

“Working with him was the best experience I’ve ever had,” the pickleball player said, visibly emotional. “It was incredibly healing, not just for me, but for our relationship too. We really grew together during that time, and it was amazing.”

It almost brought me to tears. I’ve been focused on my creative work for a long time, something I’ve dreamed about for years, and I felt incredibly supported and cared for by him.

He was incredibly thoughtful, wanting to create something specifically for me and really understand what I was thinking. He brought that vision to life beautifully, and I was able to guide the overall design, which is perfect for what I enjoy doing.
