PlayStation Plus members regularly receive new free games as part of their subscription. However, to make room for these additions, some games are also removed from the service throughout the year.
PlayStation Plus members recently lost access to two previously free games. They’ve been removed from the “Last Chance To Play” section, meaning new downloads are no longer available (according to PS Lifestyle). If you already downloaded the games, you can still play them for now, but access will probably expire at the end of February.
The PlayStation Plus February Lineup Got A Small Update
I’ve been seeing some chatter online from fellow PS Plus members – it looks like Carto and Spirit of the North have disappeared from the ‘Last Chance To Play’ section. People are saying they contacted PlayStation support because they weren’t able to download these games anymore, and they didn’t even get a heads-up! It seems like PlayStation Plus has been removing games without much warning lately, and unfortunately, these two have now been pulled too. It’s a bit frustrating when they just disappear without notice.
PlayStation Plus recently removed several games, and players have noticed a lack of communication about these changes. One Reddit user, Skydude252, pointed out that the games were listed as leaving soon earlier this week, but were then simply taken down without any announcement, suggesting PlayStation may have been trying to avoid questions from players.
Sony probably wanted to let players know that some games will no longer be available to download after February 2026. If you’ve already downloaded Carto or Spirit of the North through your PS Plus subscription, you can continue playing them. However, new players will need to either stream the games or buy them.
Not As Many Games Leaving As We Thought
Good news: February will see two fewer game removals than originally announced. However, it’s currently unknown whether players who’ve already downloaded Carto and Spirit of the North will still have access after February, so their availability remains uncertain for now.
Sony’s sudden removal of games from its PlayStation Plus service is concerning players. There have been at least four instances of this happening unexpectedly, including the removal of Totally Reliable Delivery Service and A Hat in Time last year. PlayStation Plus subscribers are understandably frustrated, and hope this practice doesn’t become more common.
