After Jackie ‘O’ Henderson unexpectedly left The Kyle & Jackie O Show due to a major disagreement with Kyle Sandilands, her former husband, Phil O’Neil, known as ‘Ugly’ Phil, has spoken out for the first time.
A long-time radio host, who was married to Henderson from 1993 to 1999 and played a role in launching her career, posted a thoughtful message on social media Wednesday about her recent dismissal.
Phil posted a message from a listener on social media asking him to host the KIIS FM breakfast show, and his response hinted at his thoughts on the idea.
Phil confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, I’m the main story on the radio today, but I don’t have anything else to say right now. Thank you.”
Phil helped launch Henderson’s career by regularly featuring her on his Triple M Adelaide show, ‘Phil O’Neil’s Hot 30’.
After their breakup, Jackie continued working in radio and teamed up with Kyle Sandilands in 2000. Their successful partnership lasted until February 20th, when a public argument on the air led to a dramatic split.
Okay, so the buzz is that things have fallen apart over at the Kyle & Jackie O show. Apparently, there’s been a pretty major falling out between Kyle and Jackie, and it’s led to the show essentially collapsing. It’s definitely a surprising turn of events, and everyone’s talking about it!
ARN, the company that owns KIIS FM, announced Tuesday that Jackie Hendersonās contract, worth $100 million, has been cancelled. This follows Henderson informing management she could no longer work with Kyle Sandilands after his on-air remarks upset her deeply.
Sandilands has been suspended and given 14 days to ‘remedy’ the breach, or else faces termination.
ARN sent a letter to Sandilands informing him that his actions on the February 20th show were a serious violation of his contract with Quasar Media.
The KIIS breakfast show is ending right away, and temporary plans are being put in place for the slot.
ARN has offered Henderson the possibility of an alternative show on the network.
Daily Mail has reached out to Henderson and Sandilands for comment.Ā
The deal reportedly netted them $200 million, working out to around $47,000 per episode.
Henderson, age 51, hasn’t been on the Kyle & Jackie O show since February 20th, after Karl Sandilands, 54, said she wasn’t concentrating enough at work.
While arguing on live television, Henderson became emotional and started crying when the conversation turned to Prince Andrew.
Sandilands got angry at her when she proceeded to read out the disgraced royal’s birth chart.
He lambasted his co-star, claiming that her love for astrology was affecting her work.
When Henderson tried to protect herself and said he attacked her, he claimed he was simply stating what he believed to be true.
AnĀ emotional Henderson said she was deeply ‘offended’ by his brutal comments during the clash.Ā
After the disagreement, she took a break from the show and was scheduled to come back on March 2nd.
On Monday, it was announced that her return to the airwaves has been pushed back another week.
On Tuesday’s show, Sandilands announced that Henderson was expected to return to the radio ‘eventually,’ but that didn’t happen.
