Matthew Macfadyen’s new dramedy about “the ultimate relationship crisis” confirms UK release date

Elizabeth Banks, known for Pitch Perfect, and Matthew Macfadyen, from Succession, are the stars of The Miniature Wife, a new dramedy exploring the power dynamics in a marriage. The film uses a quirky and unusual idea to tell its story, and it now has a confirmed release date.

I’m so excited about this new series! It’s based on a short story by Manuel Gonzales, and it’s about a couple, Les and Lindy, who face a really wild situation. Basically, a tech problem shrinks Lindy down to the size of a doll, and the show follows how they deal with that and everything it changes in their marriage. It sounds totally unique and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds!

Lindy’s dramatic change is causing serious problems in her marriage to Les. While Les feels bad about what happened, he surprisingly confesses to enjoying the situation, which is concerning.

“Except for the tiny elephant in the room,” Lindy replies, without missing a beat.

Premiering on Sky and NOW on April 9th in the UK and Ireland, The Miniature Wife is a new series created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner. They also serve as executive producers, alongside Banks and Macfadyen. All episodes will be available to stream at once.

Joining Banks and Macfadyen as main cast members are Zoe Lister-Jones (known for Beau Is Afraid), O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale), Sian Clifford (Fleabag), and Sofia Rosinsky (Death and Other Details). Ronny Chieng, Aasif Mandvi, Rong Fu, and Tricia Black will appear in recurring roles.

Earlier this year, Megan Banks appeared in the film Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, alongside Zoey Deutch. The movie follows a bride-to-be from the Midwest who travels to Hollywood to get revenge after discovering her fiancé cheated using a ‘celebrity hall pass’.

Banks stars as herself in the film, alongside other celebrities playing exaggerated versions of themselves, like Jennifer Aniston and Jon Hamm. Sabrina Impacciatore, known for her role in The White Lotus season 2, plays the character Ludovica.

I’m really excited to see what Hugh Macfadyen does next! He’s going to be in a new drama called Séance on a Wet Afternoon, and Rachel Weisz is in it too. It’s based on a book from way back in 1961 – the same name as the movie – and the screenplay was written by Jack Thorne, who I loved for his work on Adolescence. I have high hopes for this one!

The Miniature Wife is set to air on Sky and stream on NOW from 9 April.
