A new Spider-Man project, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is coming to theaters this July and will feature returning villains from the hit movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, but with different actors. This continues the story of Tom Holland as Peter Parker, four years after his battle with Multiversal villains like Green Goblin, Electro, and Doc Ock. Before that, Nicolas Cage will star as Spider-Noir in a new eight-episode series arriving on Amazon Prime Video on May 27.
I just got a first look at some seriously cool collectibles coming to CCXP Mexico! Omelete revealed five new badges inspired by Spider-Noir, and they’re showcasing some fantastic new poster art for the Amazon Prime Video series. What really grabbed me is that two of the major villains from Spider-Man: No Way Home are getting a total makeover, reimagined to fit the gritty, 1930s New York setting of Spider-Noir. It’s a really clever way to blend universes and give these characters a fresh, noir-inspired look.
Jack Huston, known for his roles in Boardwalk Empire and the 2016 film Ben-Hur, has been cast as Flint Marko, the villain also known as Sandman.

The latest promotional poster for the CCXP event appears to include actor Joe Massingill, known for his role in Fear the Walking Dead, portraying the character Electro. The poster highlights Electro’s abilities with Spider-Man visible in the background.

The Sandman has been portrayed in live-action films twice before, in Spider-Man 3 and No Way Home. Both times, the character was played by Thomas Haden Church, known for his role in Wake Up Dead Man. Interestingly, Church didn’t actually appear on set for his recent return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The trailer for Spider-Noir offered fans their first look at Tom Hiddleston as the Sandman, showing grains of sand visibly on his face.

Jamie Foxx, known for his role in Django Unchained, played Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This was a change from the comic books, where Electro is traditionally White. In No Way Home, the character of Oscorp scientist Max Dillon, also known as Electro, was reimagined with a different personality, moving away from his awkward and shy portrayal.

Electro didn’t have a major role in the first trailer for Spider-Noir, but we did see a brief flash of his electrical powers when sparks came from his hands.

At CCXP, in addition to showcasing villains fans will recognize from No Way Home, a poster was unveiled featuring the main antagonist, Silvermane, played by Brendan Gleeson, and Li Jun Li, who will portray Black Cat in live-action for the second time ever.

A poster featured Abraham Popoola, an actor from Atlas, playing a character who hasn’t been given a name yet. According to Deadline, the character is a World War I veteran hoping to improve his situation.

Finally, a poster was revealed for Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, the hero starring in the upcoming eight-episode live-action series. While the show features a Spider-Man-related character, Cage’s character won’t actually be called Spider-Man. The poster shows him swinging through the streets of New York City.

Nicolas Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in the animated film Into the Spider-Verse. However, this new role seems to be a different version of the 1930s-era superhero detective, separate from the one anticipated to reappear in Beyond the Spider-Verse, scheduled for release on June 26, 2027.
How Do Spider-Noir’s Many Villains Link Together?
Fans will be happy to learn that Spider-Noir is bringing back classic Spider-Man villains, but with a fresh, 1930s-inspired twist. It wasn’t always certain if the series would include super-powered enemies, so it’s great to see these familiar foes making an appearance.
According to Esquire, Nicolas Cage’s character, Ben Reilly, in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, will find himself unexpectedly involved in a bigger conflict. This struggle will connect to the villain Silvermane and also explore Ben Reilly’s past.
The report also noted that Silvermane has faced several attempts on his life. This raises the possibility that individuals like Electro and Sandman were either hired to protect him, or are actually responsible for the attacks.
It remains to be seen if the new Amazon Prime Video series can effectively portray these villains, who usually rely on expensive CGI, given its likely smaller budget compared to the $200 million spent on No Way Home.
Along with Electro and Sandman, the character of Robbie Robertson is also being reimagined for Spider-Noir. Fans will recognize Robbie as the Daily Bugle reporter from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies, but this version shows him at the beginning of his career as a freelance journalist.
