Cillian Murphy, known for his role in Peaky Blinders, has firmly denied rumors that he will play Lord Voldemort in the new Harry Potter series coming to HBO. He has confirmed he will not be taking on the part of the famous villain.
Talk about who might take over the role of Lord Voldemort started earlier this year when Ralph Fiennes, who famously played the villain, was asked about potential replacements.
So, someone asked me about who should play this role, and I guess they thought it was already decided. I mentioned I thought Cillian Murphy would be a great fit – I’d actually said that before, so it wasn’t a new thought!

He appeared concerned he’d accidentally revealed something and then asked, according to Metro, “I think they’ve cast it, haven’t they?”
In an interview with The Times, Murphy firmly denied rumors he was taking the job, even asking the publication to use his denial as the headline.

Honestly, I love how real he is. He basically said that playing the ‘personality’ game isn’t his strong suit, and he’s not comfortable with all the attention that comes with being famous – all the self-promotion and endless red carpets. He even admitted it’s easy to get caught up in the hype and start believing it all, and that’s something he’s really bad at, which I totally get! It’s refreshing to hear someone be so honest about the downsides of fame.
He added: “I’m an incredibly average person, really.”
The new TV series, promised to closely follow the story of the Harry Potter books, has revealed the actors who will play several key adult characters.

Nick Frost, known for his roles in Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, will play the half-giant Rubeus Hagrid. John Lithgow, from Conclave, will portray Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore.
The cast also includes Janet McTeer, known for her role in Ozark, as Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu, from Gangs of London, as Severus Snape.
Luke Thallon will play Professor Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse, a well-known comedian, will be taking on the role of Argus Filch, the caretaker of Hogwarts.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-color 100-page tribute to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
