Clash Royale is celebrating its 10th anniversary this March 2026 with the launch of Season 81! To mark a decade since its release, the game will feature celebratory cosmetic items, two new playable Heroes, a big Album Event, and lots of special in-game activities throughout the month.
Season 81 is here, coinciding with a special celebration, and the newest update is now available! Here’s a full look at everything included in the Clash Royale Season 81 update.
Clash Royale Season 81 “10th Anniversary” Overview
This season is all about celebrating an anniversary! Expect special tower appearances, banners, emotes, and unique events happening throughout the season.
New Heroes: Hero Barbarian Barrel and Hero Magic Archer
Hero Barbarian Barrel
This season’s featured Hero is Barbarian Barrel, and he’s available through Pass Royale! His special ability, Rowdy Reroll, lets the Barbarian he spawns turn back into a barrel and roll down the lane again. This second roll does the same amount of damage as the first, but doesn’t travel quite as far.
After being hit a second time, the Barbarian recovers, regaining half of the damage he took. This could give him another opportunity to attack the tower. Using this ability costs 1 Elixir, and it can only be used once for each Barbarian you deploy.
Hero Magic Archer
The Hero Magic Archer is the first of a new type of powerful character called Legendary Heroes, and players can win him as the top reward in the Album Event. His special ability, Triple Threat, lets him quickly move away from danger. When used, Magic Archer jumps back five spaces, and a fake copy of him appears where he used to be, adding a clever element to battles.
Okay, so my next attack after using this ability is a super-powerful Triple Shot – awesome! I can also deploy a decoy that takes damage for me, but it won’t pull enemy troops that target buildings. It costs 1 Elixir, lasts for 7 seconds, and then I have to wait 20 seconds before I can use it again. And the best part? I can unlock the Hero Magic Archer just by playing the Album Event – totally free!
Free and Diamond Pass Royale Overview
Season 81 of Clash Royale features the usual Pass Royale system with two reward tracks: a free track everyone can enjoy, and a Diamond Pass with extra perks for players who purchase it. The rewards you get depend on how far you progress and what Arena you’re in.
When you get to Arena 15, the Diamond Pass is where it’s at! Not only will you earn more rewards, but you’ll also unlock special anniversary items and gain access to the season’s featured Hero: Hero Barbarian Barrel.

Balance Changes for March 2026 in Clash Royale
Nerfs
Hero Ice Golem
- Freeze Duration: 2s → 1.5s (-25%)
As a player, I was noticing the Ice Golem was becoming a real problem on offense – especially when combined with quick attacks like the Hog Rider. The developers have tweaked it by shortening how long the freeze effect lasts, which is good! It gives defenders more time to react and makes it harder for one big push to completely overwhelm the other team. It feels much fairer now.
Hero Knight
- Taunt Radius: 7.5 tiles → 6.5 tiles (-13%)
The Hero Knight’s Taunt ability previously reached too far, letting players interrupt opponents from a distance without risk. We’ve shortened its range, so players will now need to be closer and more accurate with their timing to use it effectively.
Hero Mega Minion
- Warp Damage: 468 → 412 (-12%)
As a huge fan, I’ve been watching Hero Mega Minion absolutely crush it as a sneaky, backline attacker! They tweaked the warp damage a bit, which is great because it means some of my favorite ranged units can actually survive that first teleport hit. It’s making battles way more interesting – you really have to think about how you use it now, instead of just blindly sending him in.
Royal Hogs Evolution
- Landing Damage: 115 → 84 (-27%)
Royal Hogs used to deal too much damage when played, making them difficult to counter. We’ve lowered their initial damage to give opponents a better chance to react and defend.
Dart Goblin
- Sight Range: 7.5 tiles → 7 tiles (-7%)
As a Dart Goblin player, I was definitely noticing some weird stuff with how far he could see! It led to some really unpredictable movements and made it tough to stay in the right lane. But the recent changes are awesome – it feels way more consistent now, and I can actually rely on where he’s going to move. It’s a big improvement for positioning!
Royal Ghost
- Invisibility Delay: 1.8s → 2s (+11%)
After attacking, the Royal Ghost will take a bit longer to become invisible. This gives players defending their base more time to react, whether the Royal Ghost is in its standard or evolved form.
Royal Giant
- Hit Speed: 1.7s → 1.8s (+6%)
The Royal Giant is a reliably effective way to win matches. While his slower attack speed means his evolved form’s knockback won’t completely prevent close-range troops from attacking, it still keeps them at a safe distance.
Vines
- Deploy Time: 0.4s → 0.9s (+125%)
Vines were often too good at trapping players who weren’t ready, especially when used to lure them into magical traps. However, because they take a bit of time to put down, players have a better chance to respond before getting caught.
Buffs
Hero Musketeer
- Turret Range: 3.5 tiles → 4 tiles (+14%)
Following a recent update, the Hero Musketeer’s Trusty Turret stopped working well with certain game elements. Increasing its range fixes this issue and helps her perform better without making her overpowered.
Bats
- Hit Speed: 1.3s → 1.2s (-8%)
Bats now attack slightly faster, increasing their damage output and making them a useful, low-cost support option in groups.
Phoenix
- Egg Hitpoints: 240 → 317 (+32%)
- Egg Lifetime: 4.3s → 3.8s (-12%)
Phoenix hasn’t been performing well lately, and we’re working to improve its standing in the game. Making its Egg form more durable helps ensure it can successfully revive, but reducing how long it stays alive keeps it from becoming overpowered.
Reworks
Electro Dragon + Evolution
- Extra Chain Damage (Evo): 128 → 64 (-50%)
- Hitpoints: 949 → 998 (+5%)
Okay, so the Electro Dragon’s Evolution form felt way too strong compared to the regular one. It just wasn’t balanced. They’ve moved some of the power from the Evolution version down to the base card to make both versions feel more useful and competitive. It should be a better experience now!
Executioner + Evolution
- Knockback (Evo): 1.5 tiles → 1 tile (-33%)
- Damage: 168 → 179 (+6%)
Just like with the Electro Dragon, the upgraded version of the Executioner was significantly stronger than its original form. These adjustments balance the power levels so both versions are more consistent with each other.
