Katherine Jenkins celebrates her Welsh roots with Carol Vorderman and Strictly’s Amy Dowden as she hosts her annual St David’s Day party

As someone who loves celebrating culture, I was thrilled to host my annual St. David’s Day party on Monday! It was wonderful to share the festivities with friends like Carol Vorderman and the amazing Amy Dowden, and really embrace my Welsh heritage. It’s always a special occasion for me.

The 45-year-old opera singer stunned in a red dress while posing for pictures with other celebrities at London’s The Chancery Rosewood hotel.

She paired the stunning ball gown by Rebecca Vallance with strappy heels and completed the look with sparkling chandelier earrings.

TV presenter Carol, 65, looked stylish at the event in a red blazer and flared trousers – a subtle tribute to Wales.

Meanwhile, Amy, 35, looked stunning in a high neck satin dress which she pair with strappy heels. 

This event celebrates Welsh culture and traditions by bringing together prominent Welsh figures and those with strong ties to Wales. It’s a chance to recognize their achievements, shared history, and the stories that connect them.

This year, Katherine’s gin brand, Cygnet – recognized as the world’s most luxurious – was central to her success.

Guests sipped on Cygnet 22 Martinis, Cygnet Gin & Tonics, and Cygnet 77 Old Fashioneds – each drink celebrating Welsh artistry.

The event welcomed a number of well-known Welsh figures, including TV presenter Alex Jones, singer Vanessa Williams, rugby legend Alun Wyn Jones, football captain Ben Davies, opera singer Sir Bryn Terfel, composer Sir Karl Jenkins, and singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti.

Guests enjoyed a meal featuring Welsh dishes and were entertained by a traditional Welsh harpist. The evening included a special performance by Catrin Feelings, a star from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

As a lifestyle expert, I truly believe in celebrating what makes us, us. And for me, St. David’s Day is all about that! It fills me with such a strong sense of pride – pride in my Welsh heritage, in our beautiful language and landscapes, and especially in the warmth and spirit of the Welsh people. It’s a day to really connect with where you come from and celebrate everything that makes it special.

Wales had a profound impact on who I am, even before I gained any wider recognition. I admire the life of Saint David, who emphasized simplicity, kindness, and the importance of small acts – his saying, “Gwnewch y pethau bychain” – meaning “do the little things” – really resonates with me.

True greatness isn’t always flashy; it’s often found in modest people doing small, kind things every day. This spirit feels particularly Welsh – a culture known for being hardworking, down-to-earth, and quietly resilient.

Whether I’m performing on stage with a daffodil or simply enjoying dinner with friends, I always carry a sense of Welsh pride and gratitude with me. No matter where I am in the world, those special parts of home – those ‘little things’ – come along for the journey.
