Michael Jackson’s son Bigi – formerly Blanket – flashes animated expression during rare outing

The son of the late King of Pop, he has embraced a rather private life over the years.  

Michael Jackson’s youngest son, Bigi Jackson, was seen in public over the weekend in a rare appearance.

Prince Michael Jackson, previously known as Blanket Jackson, was seen having lunch with friends in Los Angeles on Sunday, dressed casually.

Bigi, a 24-year-old, was spotted casually walking around, appearing relaxed and happy. They were wearing a blue shirt with a design related to Quint’s shark fishing and black pants.

He seemed to become focused on something, briefly showing a lively and engaged expression.

Unlike his brothers, Paris and Prince Jackson, Bigi has generally shied away from public attention. However, he’s recently begun using his position to support a cause he believes in.

During a 2021 interview on Good Morning Britain, he discussed climate change, stating, ‘It’s vital that everyone understands the issue. We need to take action, and my generation recognizes how important it is.’

The outing comes as Hollywood prepares to release a new biopic about Bigi’s famous father.

Antoine Fuqua’s film tells the incredible life story of Michael Jackson, following his journey from a childhood spent in Gary, Indiana, to becoming a global superstar.

It stars Bigi’s cousin, Jaafar Jackson, who is the son of Jermaine Jackson.  

Born in 2002 to a surrogate mother, Bigi is perhaps best known as the baby Michael Jackson famously held over a hotel balcony in Berlin, displaying him to his fans.

Michael Jackson, known as the King of Pop, passed away in 2009 at the age of 50. He died from a heart attack brought on by the anesthetic drug Propofol, which he was given to help him sleep.

Authorities in February 2010 deemed his death as the result of acute propofol intoxication.

Michael received a strong medication from his doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray. Investigators said Michael referred to the drug – which was given through an IV – as ‘milk’ and explained he couldn’t sleep without it.

The news of Michael’s passing brought an outpouring of heartfelt messages and memorials from fans around the world, both in person and online, especially on social media.

Michael’s family, including his three children, attended a public memorial held for him on July 7, 2009, at what is now the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. It was the first time the children had been seen in public without masks.

At the emotional service, 11-year-old Paris shared how much she loved her father, describing him as the best a person could ask for, all her life.

A private funeral service for Michael Jackson’s family and close friends took place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

After Michael’s death, people began to question Conrad’s care for him. Concerns arose about whether Conrad made good decisions regarding the amount of medication he gave Michael and if he followed proper safety procedures when administering it.

Investigators concluded that Michael’s death was a homicide. Over two years later, in November 2011, Conrad was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and received a four-year prison sentence.

Michael enjoyed an incredibly successful music career, becoming one of the best-selling artists ever. He received 13 Grammy Awards from a total of 38 nominations.

He won several awards, including Best R&B Vocal Performance for “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough” in 1980, and both Album of the Year and Record of the Year in 1984 for Thriller and “Beat It,” respectively.

In 1993, he received a Grammy Legend Award, and after his death, The Recording Academy honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. He was also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
